Panthers | Jonathan Stewart needs more carries

Fri, 13 Oct 2017 19:20:22 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart needs to be more involved in the offense, according to QB Cam Newton.

Fantasy Tip: Carolina's ground game is a mess right now, and the Panthers are currently tied for 29th in yards per carry. Stewart is averaging just 2.9 yards per carry, and he has 17 rushing yards over the last two games combined. You are better off benching him until he shows signs of life.

Panthers | Christian McCaffrey could approach record

Fri, 13 Oct 2017 07:25:41 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey is on pace to catch 99 passes this season, which would be the second most by a rookie in NFL history.

Fantasy Tip: He has a 37-293-2 receiving line, but he's averaging just 2.7 yards per carry with 38 rushes for 104 yards. McCaffrey is an RB2 in PPR leagues when the Panthers suit up against the Chicago Bears Oct. 22.

Panthers | Ed Dickson does little Thursday

Thu, 12 Oct 2017 21:53:48 -0700

Carolina Panthers TE Ed Dickson had four receptions for 36 yards against the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday, Oct. 12. He was targeted eight times.

Fantasy Tip: Coming off a massive Week 5, Dickson looked much more like the player he'd been over the first seven years of his career. He could still have some appeal while Greg Olsen is out, but he's not someone you can reliably plug into your lineup on a weekly basis.

Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin solid on TNF

Thu, 12 Oct 2017 21:49:41 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin was targeted 13 times on Thursday, Oct. 12, catching nine for 99 yards against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin has been doing the odd-even thing this year, averaging 6.3 catches for 93 yards in Weeks 2, 4 and 6, while managing 2.3 grabs for 30 yards in the odd-numbered weeks. Fantasy owners would definitely enjoy more consistency, but Benjamin deserves to be deployed as a WR3 on a weekly basis.

Panthers | Jonathan Stewart totals negative yards

Thu, 12 Oct 2017 21:35:06 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart had eight carries for minus-four yards during the team's Week 6 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Stewart was targeted twice in the passing game but did not record a reception.

Fantasy Tip: After gaining just 21 yards on 18 carries in Motown, Stewart went backwards Thursday night, giving him 17 yards on his last 26 carries. The veteran hasn't scored this season and hasn't reached 70 yards in a game. That's a bad combination, and it's ample reason to keep Stewart on your bench until further notice.

Panthers | Christian McCaffrey has busy night

Thu, 12 Oct 2017 21:29:39 -0700

Carolina Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey caught 10 passes (on 14 targets) for 56 yards and a touchdown in Week 6 against the Philadelphia Eagles. He added four carries for eight yards.

Fantasy Tip: Newton swung the ball out to McCaffrey a lot Thursday night, and the rookie hauled in a team-best 10 passes. He gained just 56 yards, however, and was a non factor in the running game. McCaffrey has RB3/Flex value in standard leagues and clearly holds more appeal in PPR formats.

Panthers | Cam Newton throws three picks

Thu, 12 Oct 2017 21:08:11 -0700

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton completed 28 of 52 passes for 239 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions against the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday, Oct. 12. He also rushed 11 times for 71 yards and a touchdown.

Fantasy Tip: It wasn't a great night for Newton, who was picked three times, had another erased on a penalty, and authored a World Cup style flop to draw a personal foul. He also took a pounding and was off target, completing just 53.8 percent of his throws with a long of 20 yards. On the plus side, Newton's legs produced 71 yards and a score, which salvaged an otherwise disappointing night. He'll have 10 days to heal up before traveling to face the Bears where he should be considered a solid QB1.
