Panthers | Cam Newton limited Wednesday

Wed, 20 Sep 2017 12:25:37 -0700

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton (shoulder, ankle) was limited in practice Wednesday, Sept. 20.

Fantasy Tip: As long as Newton is healthy enough to play then he'll be in QB1 territory. Newton and the Panthers face a New Orleans Saints defense that has allowed 32.5 points per game in its first two games.

Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin held out of practice

Wed, 20 Sep 2017 12:20:44 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) was not a participant in practice Wednesday, Sept. 20.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin is nursing a knee injury and faces an iffy future in Week 3. If Benjamin is unable to take the field or is limited at all then Devin Funchess and Ed Dickson become more attractive starting options against a weak New Orleans Saints defense.

Panthers | Greg Olsen goes to IR

Tue, 19 Sep 2017 11:33:04 -0700

Carolina Panthers TE Greg Olsen (foot) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Tuesday, Sept. 19, after having surgery on his broken foot Monday, Sept. 18. Specifically, Olsen broke the fifth metatarsal on his right foot and had a screw inserted to repair the fracture, according to Carolina's head athletic trainer.

Fantasy Tip: It's a tremendous loss for an already struggling offense. Ed Dickson will take over as the starting tight end, but his fantasy value doesn't hold a candle to Olsen's. Don't add him to replace Olsen unless you're desperate.

Panthers | Greg Olsen had surgery Monday

Mon, 18 Sep 2017 08:50:07 -0700

Updating an earlier report, Carolina Panthers TE Greg Olsen (foot) had surgery Monday, Sept. 18, and the surgery was a routine procedure. The team is still evaluating whether Olsen will go on the Reserve/Injured list.

Panthers | Greg Olsen to have surgery

Mon, 18 Sep 2017 08:49:36 -0700

Updating previous reports, Carolina Panthers TE Greg Olsen (foot) will undergo surgery on his broken right foot and miss six to eight weeks. The team will decide after surgery whether he'll be placed on the Reserve/Injured list designated to return.

Fantasy Tip: If you have roster space, hold on to him and stash him for the stretch run. Ed Dickson had two grabs for 26 yards in his absence, but he doesn't have much fantasy appeal. Expect Kelvin Benjamin to see more targets with Cam Newton's security blanket out. K-Benj is a good WR2 to have.

Panthers | Greg Olsen likely out six games

Mon, 18 Sep 2017 05:32:05 -0700

Updating previous reports, Carolina Panthers TE Greg Olsen (foot) figures to miss six games and could go on the Reserve/Injured list designated to return. It's not a season-ending injury.

Fantasy Tip: Ed Dickson had two catches for 26 yards in the game, and he has very little roster appeal. Kelvin Benjamin should see more looks in Olsen's absence as a WR2.

Panthers | Graham Gano is Carolina's hero

Sun, 17 Sep 2017 15:53:06 -0700

Carolina Panthers PK Graham Gano converted each of his three field goal attempts (34, 28, 20) in Week 2 against the Buffalo Bills to account for all of the scoring in the 9-3 victory.

Fantasy Tip: Gano was the fantasy hero for the Panthers, and might be the most valuable option on the roster through two weeks. He should have another high-scoring game against the visiting Saints in Week 3.

Panthers | Nothing doing for Curtis Samuel

Sun, 17 Sep 2017 15:52:32 -0700

Carolina Panthers rookie WR Curtis Samuel posted two grabs for seven yards in Week 2 against the Buffalo Bills

Fantasy Tip: Samuel hasn't been much of the plan so far during his early days in Charlotte, but he could see more responsibilities as everyone is asked to do more with Greg Olsen (foot) going down. Still, Samuel is battling Russell Shepard and Damiere Byrd for scraps and is only worth rostering in long-term fantasy formats at this time.

Panthers | Ed Dickson totals 26 yards

Sun, 17 Sep 2017 15:51:55 -0700

Carolina Panthers TE Ed Dickson racked up two receptions for 26 yards on three targets in Week 2 against the visiting Bills.

Fantasy Tip: Dickson was called upon to do more after starting TE Greg Olsen went down with what is believed to be a multi-week injury to his foot. Even as the top tight end in Carolina, Dickson is more of a low-end TE2 for fantasy purposes heading into Week 3 against the Saints.

Panthers | Devin Funchess picks up the pace

Sun, 17 Sep 2017 15:51:10 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess posted four catches for 68 yards on seven targets in Week 2 against Buffalo.

Fantasy Tip: Funchess picked up a little bit of the slack with one of Cam Newton's favorite targets, Greg Olsen, going down to a major foot injury. The receiver out of the University of Michigan should see an uptick in targets going forward. He is worth a look as a WR4 or WR5 in deeper leagues heading into Week 3 against New Orleans.

Panthers | Kelvin Benjamin leads way in Week 2

Sun, 17 Sep 2017 15:50:16 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin hauled in six receptions for 77 yards in Week 2 against the Bills on his eight targets.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin should see even more heavy lifting in upcoming weeks, especially in the red zone, with Greg Olsen (foot) sidelined for what is believed to be a multi-week injury. Benjamin is a decent WR3 or flex play heading into Week 3 against the defensively challenged Saints.
