KFFL is a privately held company that offers NFL, MLB and fantasy sports content. Unmatched in news gathering, KFFL blends daily news with on-line content to create a viewpoint between fantasy sports and pro sports that a viewer can use to help stay properly informed. Still in its infancy, KFFL continues to expand, yet is one of the oldest NFL news and fantasy football sites on-line.
KFFL began in 1996 and expanded from leagues to become a full-fledged fantasy football service in 1998 -- offering daily NFL news, preseason draft guides, rankings, weekly newsletters, chat rooms and more. In 2001, KFFL separated its fantasy and sports services into distinct divisions; NFL, MLB and fantasy content and began producing business-to-business content along with business to consumer content.
On May 10, 1996 KFFL went on-line and offered salary cap leagues and later added head to head and total point leagues. In 1997 KFFL then partnered with another fantasy service and produced a free on-line fantasy football newsletter that included rankings and team reports. KFFL produced discussion boards, chat rooms and continued its leagues. At this time, fantasy football was still in its infancy on-line and KFFL's discussion boards and chat rooms were one of the first of its kind.
Despite continued growth of the Internet, no on-line service at the time was producing news on a daily basis that covered every NFL team and a void needed to be filled. In 1997, KFFL tested a news service, Hot Off The Wire, that would eventually become KFFL's most popular feature and flagship service. Hot Off The Wire enjoyed a two week run in August 1997 and proved to be one of the organizations most popular pages for the month.
With this success in late 1997, a new company spearheaded by Hot Off The Wire creators was in the beginning stages of this emerging industry. At the same time, KFFL owners and contributors also determined to take fantasy football to the next level. Both groups agreed a new company with news as the flagship service to enhance and promote the site to gain viewers was the next step. KFFL, ending a two year relationship with another fantasy service, joined this new partnership and Hot Off The Wire integrated itself into KFFL and the company was reborn.
A new company emerged from the ashes of the old and in 1998, KFFL began it's news service, fantasy football content and on-line communities. This was all spearheaded by new ownership and a vision that was soon to be emulated by many others.
The new KFFL's first objective was to showcase its services and introduced various products into the fantasy industry and unveiled a staff of nationally published writers and past champions of "Expert" leagues. All of this was done with one goal in mind; take advantage of the Internet's speed to produce products and services that are as close to "real-time" as possible.
Hot Off The Wire continues to bring football fanatics and the NFL industry the most up-to-date information available on-line. Updated multiple times per day using over 200 sources, Hot Off the Wire has quickly become one of the most viewed -- and at one point most imitated web pages -- in the football industry. It is also used as a source of information for many sports sites that aggregate news.
In 1998, KFFL acquired Empire Fantasy Sports and gained a tradition rich with excellence and customer service through a company that has been in business since 1991.
KFFL has since gone on to participate in many expert panels across the country, as well as being featured as speakers and recognized for it's excellence in various publications.
