Miami Marlins C John Buck had an RBI double in the eighth inning of the regular season opener Wednesday, April 4, against the St. Louis Cardinals. The RBI was the first by the home team in Marlins Park, the brand new stadium in Little Havana west of downtown Miami.

Florida Marlins C John Baker (elbow) said Friday, Sept. 16, that he is available behind the plate if needed. Manager Jack McKeon didn't rule out using him for a few innings at some point during the final 12 games. "I'm available, hoping to play, ready to play, but I understand (C John Buck) and (C Brett Hayes) have been here the whole year," Baker said.
