Mariners | Felix Hernandez done for 2015

Wed, 30 Sep 2015 15:22:58 -0700

Seattle Mariners SP Felix Hernandez will not start again in 2015.

Fantasy Tip: Seasonal owners can safely replace Hernandez ($8,900, 17.8% of cap) for a streaming option over the final days of the season. Hernandez only struck out 191 batters this season, and his 3.53 ERA was his highest mark since the 2008 season, which was also the last time he didn't top 200 punchouts. Entering his age-30 season, and with 2262 1/3 innings on his resume, a further decline shouldn't surprise anyone. Be careful not to overdraft Hernandez in 2016.

Mariners | Felix Hernandez could be pushed back

Wed, 30 Sep 2015 01:13:29 -0700

Seattle Mariners SP Felix Hernandez (elbow) has a tender right elbow and could have his start pushed back to Saturday, Oct. 3.

Fantasy Tip: Hernandez ($8,900, 17.8% of cap) hasn't had the best of luck in the past month of starts, so even if he earns another turn you may want to avoid using it. Wait until he's had an offseason of rest.

Mariners | Felix Hernandez set for Angels Saturday

Wed, 23 Sep 2015 14:12:10 -0700

Seattle Mariners SP Felix Hernandez (elbow) will start against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Saturday, Sept. 26. Seattle is providing their ace with an extra day of rest after he left his past start with a stiff elbow Sunday, Sept. 20.

Fantasy Tip: Hernandez ($8,900, 17.8% of cap) carries slightly more risk than normal beacuse of elbow concerns and his hefty cap hit. Still, he has a 3-1 record with a 2.83 ERA through his four September starts, and the Angels lineup is manageable. View Hernandez as a potential top-tier pitching option at FantasyScore Saturday.

Mariners | Felix Hernandez good to go for next start

Tue, 22 Sep 2015 14:09:55 -0700

Seattle Mariners SP Felix Hernandez (elbow) said he has no doubts that he will make his next start after he left his last outing with a stiff elbow Sunday, Sept. 20.

Fantasy Tip: With King Felix ($8,900, 17.8% of cap) all good to go for his next outing, he should once again be in consideration for your top pitching spot on FantasyScore.

Mariners | Felix Hernandez leaves start

Sun, 20 Sep 2015 16:00:42 -0700

Seattle Mariners SP Felix Hernandez (elbow) left his start Sunday, Sept. 20, due to a stiff elbow. He is expected to make his next turn in the rotation.

Fantasy Tip: Hernandez ($8,900, 17.8% of cap) has struggled in some of his latest starts, which makes you wonder if this elbow issue has been in play for a little bit. Still, keep an eye on Hernandez's status moving forward as the team may elect to shut King Felix down with nothing at stake.

Mariners | Felix Hernandez on a roll

Tue, 15 Sep 2015 10:19:23 -0700

Seattle Mariners SP Felix Hernandez has won three straight starts and has gone eight innings and has struck out seven or more hitters in each of those starts. He is 14-13 with a 3.27 ERA in 44 career starts against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, who he faces Tuesday, Sept. 15, but he's also 3-0 with a 0.67 ERA in four starts against the Angels this year.

Fantasy Tip: On a day where there are many great aces to choose from on FantasyScore, Hernandez ($8,900, 17.8% of cap) is as good an option as any. The Angels have the 27th-ranked OPS (.680) in September and are fading down the stretch.

Fantasy Tip: Hernandez ($8,300, 16.6% of cap) has tossed eight innings in each of his last three outings, compiling a 1.88 ERA over that stretch. He will make his next start against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Tuesday, Sept. 15, and merits strong consideration for FantasyScore lineups.

Athletics | Stephen Vogt behind the plate

Sat, 05 Sep 2015 17:21:05 -0700

Oakland Athletics C Stephen Vogt will bat fifth against Seattle Mariners SP Felix Hernandez Saturday, Sept. 5.

Fantasy Tip: Vogt ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) has done most of his damage against right-handed pitchers this year, and he is hitting .500 in 18 at-bats and Hernandez. Vogt should make a solid starting option at FantasyScore.

Mariners | Felix Hernandez to be skipped

Sun, 30 Aug 2015 00:07:26 -0700

Seattle Mariners SP Felix Hernandez will be skipped in the rotation this week, according to manager Lloyd McClendon. SP Vidal Nuno will instead pitch Hernandez's game on Monday, Aug. 31.

Fantasy Tip: Hernandez ($7,900, 15.8% of cap) has struggled in recent outings, leading some to wonder if it was indeed time to give him a rest. Nuno ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) has given up 10 earned runs in 20 2/3 innings and is a decent option in FantasyScore for the price.

Mariners | King Felix finally looks like himself

Wed, 26 Aug 2015 19:51:44 -0700

Seattle Mariners SP Felix Hernandez allowed two earned runs, three hits and a walk with seven strikeouts in a win against the Oakland Athletics Wednesday, Aug. 26.

Fantasy Tip: Hernandez ($7,900, 15.8% of cap) entered the game 2-2 with a dismal 8.18 ERA in four August starts, allowing at least four earned runs in three of his outings. His location and velocity were much better, and it appears seeing the yellow and green of the Oakland uniforms spurred him on. He is 2-1 with a 3.00 ERA in four starts against the A's this season, and 9-4 with a 2.71 ERA in 18 starts against the Athletics since the start of the 2012 season.
