Mariners | Felix Hernandez achieves five wins

Tue, 05 May 2015 04:53:17 -0700

Seattle Mariners SP Felix Hernandez became the first Mariners pitcher since 2001 to win his first five decisions of the season.

Fantasy Tip: Hernandez ($9,300, 18.6% of cap) had a solid outing Monday, May 4, against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, and he is close to a must-start option in any daily fantasy league.

Mariners | Felix Hernandez looks for fifth win

Mon, 04 May 2015 18:44:41 -0700

Seattle Mariners SP Felix Hernandez enters the game Monday, May 4, against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim looking to start 5-0 for the first time in 11 seasons. He is 12-13 with a 3.47 ERA in 41 career starts against the Angels.

Fantasy Tip: Hernandez ($9,300; 18.6% of cap) has fared well against most current Angels, although Mike Trout ($6,400; 12.8%) has certainly had his number.

Mariners | Felix Hernandez has owned Angels

Mon, 04 May 2015 10:44:28 -0700

Seattle Mariners SP Felix Hernandez is 4-0 with a 0.88 ERA in his last six starts against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, who have been shut out twice this year and have been held to three runs or less in 15 of 25 games this year.

Fantasy Tip: Paying up for Hernandez ($9,300, 18.6% of cap), who is the second most expensive pitcher at FantasyScore, might be tough to do considering there are plenty of other aces going tonight. However, it might be tough to go wrong with King Felix against a struggling Angels offense in a pitcher-friend environment tonight.

Mariners | Felix Hernandez reaches milestone

Thu, 30 Apr 2015 10:11:41 -0700

Seattle Mariners SP Felix Hernandez broke a team record for career innings pitched in his outing in a win over the Texas Rangers Wednesday, April 29. He now has 2,095 1/3 innings in his career, which have all come with the Mariners. Hernandez's four strikeouts Wednesday have left him one short of Johan Santana's record of 1,988 by a Venezuelan-born pitcher. Hernandez allowed five hits, two runs and one walk in 6 2/3 frames to go 4-0 on the year for the first time since 2009. He's now 14-21 against the Rangers in his career.

Fantasy Tip: Hernandez ($9,300, 18.6% of cap) is the second most expensive pitcher on FantasyScore, but most times he's worth paying up for.

Mariners | Felix Hernandez has dominated Twins

Fri, 24 Apr 2015 16:04:27 -0700

Seattle Mariners SP Felix Hernandez, who is 2-0 with a 2.37 ERA this year, is 7-5 with a 2.08 ERA in 16 career outings against the Minnesota Twins, including 3-0 with a 0.79 ERA in four starts against them in the last three years. He is 4-2 with a 1.47 ERA in nine starts against the Twins in Seattle.

Fantasy Tip: Hernandez ($9,300, 18.6% of cap) is a no-brainer at FantasyScore, despite the high salary, against one of the league's weakest hitting teams.

Mariners | Felix Hernandez dominates Rangers

Sun, 19 Apr 2015 05:34:11 -0700

Seattle Mariners SP Felix Hernandez (quadriceps, ankle) struck out 12 batters through seven innings to win his second game of the season over the Texas Rangers Saturday, April 18. Hernandez allowed a single earned run on two hits and two walks.

Fantasy Tip: Hernandez ($9,300, 18.6% of cap) eased any injury concern for his seasonal owners, and those who spent up for him in daily contests were rewarded handsomely. FantasyScore players should continue to view King Felix as a top-tier starter, and against inferior lineups, he has contest-winning upside. He proved it Saturday.

Mariners | Felix Hernandez set to start Saturday

Wed, 15 Apr 2015 15:52:10 -0700

Seattle Mariners SP Felix Hernandez (quadriceps, ankle) will indeed start against the Texas Rangers Saturday, April 18, according to manager Lloyd McClendon.

Fantasy Tip: The Athletics got to Hernandez ($9,300, 18.6% of cap) in his last outing, but he remains a top-tier starting pitcher for daily contests. The only concern is whether you can fill out a competitive lineup with so much cap space allotted to King Felix. Typically, there are plenty of hitter discounts to enable spending up for top arms, though.

Mariners | Felix Hernandez good to go?

Tue, 14 Apr 2015 16:27:12 -0700

Seattle Mariners SP Felix Hernandez (quadriceps, ankle) is expected to be good to go for his start Saturday, April 18, according to manager Lloyd McClendon. However, Seattle will wait to make a decision until after they see him throw Wednesday, April 15.

Fantasy Tip: If Hernandez ($9,300, 18.6% of cap) is able to make his start Saturday against the Texas Rangers, he should be a strong play at FantasyScore against a Texas team that is already dealing with several injuries and is a weaker offensive opponent.

Mariners | Felix Hernandez removed from start

Sun, 12 Apr 2015 15:09:00 -0700

Seattle Mariners SP Felix Hernandez (quadriceps) was taken out of his start against the Oakland Athletics on Sunday, April 12, due to tightness in his right quadriceps.

Fantasy Tip: Hernandez ($9,300, 18.6% of cap) looks like he was taken out for precautionary reasons, but this is never good news when a team's big star has injury concerns. Keep an eye on this situation.

Mariners | Felix Hernandez back to himself

Mon, 06 Apr 2015 22:17:32 -0700

Seattle Mariners SP Felix Hernandez allowed just one earned run, two hits and a walk with 10 strikeouts over seven innings in a win against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Monday, April 6. He threw 64 of his 97 pitches for strikes. He is just the fourth pitcher dating back to 1914 with at least three opening day starts of 10 or more strikeouts.

Fantasy Tip: King Felix was horrific during the spring, but often times establish veterans tinker with things during the exhibition games. This is a perfect reason why spring stats for established players can be tossed right out the window. He remains an obvious stud for FantasyScore owners.
