Mariners | Felix Hernandez closes first half strong

Fri, 10 Jul 2015 01:07:05 -0700

Seattle Mariners SP Felix Hernandez picked up his 11th win of the season and his last before the All-Star break as the Mariners won 7-2 over the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on Thursday, July 9. Hernandez threw seven shutout innings.

Fantasy Tip: Hernandez ($9,100, 18.2% of cap) remains a solid option in FantasyScore formats, as games where he falters are definitely rare. He remains a bright light in a disappointing Seattle season.

Mariners | King Felix tries to bedevil Halos

Wed, 08 Jul 2015 18:53:01 -0700

Seattle Mariners SP Felix Hernandez is scheduled to face the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Thursday, July 9. He has a 6-3 record and 2.89 ERA in nine home starts this season, but he is 2-0 with a 0.90 ERA in three starts against the Angels this season, striking out 26 over 20 innings while holding the Angels to a .136 opponent batting average.

Fantasy Tip: Hernandez ($9,100; or 18.2% of cap) is very familiar with the Angels, and more often than not the results are good. FantasyScore owners will want to roll with him, especially since opposition pitcher Garrett Richards is rather marginal on the road.

Mariners | Felix Hernandez is fine

Wed, 01 Jul 2015 09:43:21 -0700

Seattle Mariners SP Felix Hernandez (cramps) is fine after leaving his last start after six innings because of heat exhaustion and cramps.

Fantasy Tip: King Felix ($9,200, 18.4% of cap) had a couple of very uncharacteristic starts in the month of June, allowing seven and eight earned runs in two separate starts. He should be just fine for his next outing, and he'll probably be worth paying up for on FantasyScore yet again.

Mariners | Felix Hernandez exits with cramps

Sun, 28 Jun 2015 20:07:08 -0700

Seattle Mariners SP Felix Hernandez (cramps) was removed after the sixth inning against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim because of heat-related cramps Sunday, June 28. He had allowed just one hit and no runs and struck out eight when he was removed.

Fantasy Tip: The cramps don't sound like anything to be concerned about moving forward, and Hernandez ($9,300, 18.6% of cap) actually struck out more than six batters for the first time since May 27. He has been alternating strong outings with mediocre performances recently, so make sure the matchup is right before paying up for him at FantasyScore.

Mariners | Felix Hernandez bounces back

Thu, 18 Jun 2015 00:15:50 -0700

Seattle Mariners SP Felix Hernandez struck out five and walked two batters Wednesday, June 17, in a 2-0 shutout over the San Francisco Giants. Hernandez is 6-0 with a 1.60 ERA in his last nine starts following a loss.

Fantasy Tip: If Hernandez ($9,000, 18.0% of cap) is coming off a loss, this is a sure sign you should put him in your lineup. He's a must-start for FantasyScore leagues anyway, but Hernandez is very effective coming off subpar outings.

Mariners | Felix Hernandez has disastrous outing

Fri, 12 Jun 2015 18:29:26 -0700

Seattle Mariners SP Felix Hernandez allowed eight runs on five hits and two walks in one-third of an inning in his start against the Houston Astros Friday, June 12. It matched the shortest outing of his career and the eight runs allowed tied a career high.

Fantasy Tip: This was arguably the worst outing of Hernandez's ($9,300, 18.6% of cap) illustrious career, as he managed to retire only one batter while throwing 31 pitches. There were no signs of injury, so it appears that he just had a clunker of a game.

Mariners | Felix Hernandez has shut down Yanks

Mon, 01 Jun 2015 11:16:07 -0700

Seattle Mariners SP Felix Hernandez is 9-5 with a 2.87 ERA in his career against the New York Yankees, including a 3-0 record and 1.49 ERA in his last five starts against them.

Fantasy Tip: Hernandez ($9,300, 18.6% of cap) is a pretty safe option on FantasyScore tonight against an injury-riddled Yankees team that has struggled to put up runs recently.

Mariners | Felix Hernandez throws shutout

Wed, 27 May 2015 17:34:16 -0700

Seattle Mariners SP Felix Hernandez pitched a complete-game shutout against the Tampa Bay Rays Wednesday, May 27. He allowed four hits during the game while striking out eight batters.

Fantasy Tip: Hernandez ($9,300, 18.6% of cap) has not allowed more than four runs in any game this season and has 1.91 ERA through 10 starts. Hernandez is scheduled to face the New York Yankees in his next start and should be a starting option if owners are willing to spend the money.

Mariners | Felix Hernandez beats his nemesis

Fri, 22 May 2015 19:53:21 -0700

Seattle Mariners SP Felix Hernandez became the first seven-game winner, allowing one run on four hits and striking out eight in seven innings against the Toronto Blue Jays Friday, May 22. His 4.80 ERA against Toronto entering the game was his highest against any opponent he has faced more than once.

Fantasy Tip: Hernandez ($9,200, 18.4% of cap) has been a stud all season, and he is worth starting at FantasyScore whenever he takes the mound.

Athletics | Marcus Semien pulls off rare feat

Sun, 10 May 2015 18:18:15 -0700

Oakland Athletics SS Marcus Semien went 3-for-4 with two solo home runs in a 4-3 loss to the Seattle Mariners Sunday, May 10, and he became the first player since 2012 to hit two home runs off SP Felix Hernandez in the same game.

Fantasy Tip: Semien ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) has been enjoying a solid all-around season, and he is now batting .307 with five home runs, 14 RBIs and six stolen bases. He deserves regular consideration as a shortstop option at FantasyScore, especially against lefties.
