The Washington Post reports a Palm Beach (Fla.) County jury sided with former Baltimore Orioles SP Jim Palmer, finding an ophthalmologist liable for damage to Palmer's vision and awarding him $890,000. His attorney, Gary Cohen, said Palmer was talked into a getting a multifocal intraocular lens in his eye that isn't made for people who work at night. That lens was later taken off the market, Cohen said.

ESPN.com reports Hall of Fame SP Jim Palmer said in an interview with the Baltimore Sun that he questions San Francisco Giants OF Barry Bonds' record of 73 home runs. "When Bonds goes from 49 to 73, you just wonder," Palmer said. "You're trying to have a level playing field and maintain the integrity of the game. I'm sure it was a great year for Brady (Anderson when he hit 50 in 1996), and it was a great year when Bonds broke (Mark) McGwire's record, but you just wonder."

ESPN.com reports Hall of Fame SP Jim Palmer said in an interview on a Baltimore radio station Sunday, March 14, that he questions whether former Baltimore Orioles OF Brady Anderson took steroids in 1996 which enabled him to hit 50 home runs. Anderson's previous best was 21 homers in 1992 and his subsequent best was 24 in 1999. He hit 16 and 18 the seasons before and after he hit his 50. "I like Brady, and it doesn't mean he's a bad guy because he took steroids," Palmer said. "But I'm sure he wanted to enhance his performance. I don't know if Brady took steroids. How would I know? But he did go from [16] home runs to 50. I don't know how he hit 29 more homers that year and he hit 31 more on the road that year, so it's not like he took advantage of Camden Yards."
