Bill Ladson, of Washington.Nationals.MLB.com, reports Washington Nationals 2B Bernie Castro has been placed on the inactive/suspended list for violating the minor league drug policy in 2005. Castro, who was with the Orioles organization in 2005, didn't serve the 15-game suspension until now because he was signed to a major league contract after the 2005 season.

Washington Nationals 2B Bernie Castro's two triples, Saturday, Sept. 16, against the Milwaukee Brewers, tied a franchise record, according to the Associated Press. The last player to accomplish the feat was Orlando Cabrera, for the Montreal Expos on July 30, 1998.

The Washington Post's Steven Goff reports Washington Nationals manager Frank Robinson wants to take an extra-long look at 2B Bernie Castro, who has gone 3-for-6 in his last two games. "We want to see what he's capable of doing," said Robinson. "He took advantage of his speed (when he bunted). You just don't see that bunt anymore. It has become extinct."
