Updating a previous report, free-agent SP Tim Stauffer (elbow) is throwing upwards of 75 feet, and he feels he is only two weeks behind other pitchers in his throwing program heading into spring training. The San Diego Padres could choose to re-sign Stauffer or SP Dustin Moseley (shoulder).

The San Diego Padres placed RP Micah Owings (forearm) on the 15-day disabled list Thursday, April 26, due to a strained right forearm. The team purchased the contract of RP Dale Thayer from Triple-A Tucson, and moved SP Dustin Moseley (shoulder) from the 15-day to 60-day disabled list to clear a spot for Thayer on the 40-man roster.

Updating a previous report, San Diego Padres SP Dustin Moseley (shoulder) will have surgery on his right shoulder, and that procedure might take place in New York May 2. He will fly to the east coast next weekend to consult with a doctor April 30. If the doctor and pitcher agree, Moseley will either have surgery to following day, or rehab further in San Diego. Moseley confirmed Friday, April 20, that he has a tear to the capsule as well as the labrum in his right shoulder.

Updating previous reports, San Diego Padres SP Dustin Moseley (shoulder) will have surgery to repair extensive damage to his right shoulder in the coming weeks. He has damage to his labrum and expects to miss 10-15 months.

Updating a previous report, San Diego Padres SP Dustin Moseley (shoulder) has significant damage to his rotator cuff and labrum. "I do know that there is damage to the rotator cuff and changes to the labrum. The MRI showed more than minimal damage," manager Bud Black. The damage to the labrum is said to be beyond fraying. Moseley will assess his options and consider rehabbing for two months over surgery.
