Cleveland Indians manager Manny Acta is looking for a third catcher in case of injury. Cs Luke Carlin, Chun-Hsiu Chen, Michel Hernandez and Matt Pagnozzi are all in camp as spring training invitees. Cs Carlos Santana and Lou Marson are the top two catchers on the depth chart.

The Cleveland Indians signed free-agent C Matt Pagnozzi (Pirates) to a minor league deal with an invite to spring training Friday, Dec. 2.

The Pittsburgh Pirates claimed P Jeremy Hefner off waivers from the San Diego Padres and C Brian Jeroloman off waivers from the Toronto Blue Jays Friday, Nov. 18. In a corresponding move, the team outrighted C Matt Pagnozzi to Triple-A Indianapolis.

Pittsburgh Pirates manager Clint Hurdle said there is a chance C Matt Pagnozzi could see some playing time this weekend. Hurdle wants Pagnozzi to catch the pitching staff in the bullpen before putting in into games.

The Colorado Rockies have selected the contract of SP Drew Pomeranz from Double-A Tulsa. In corresponding moves, the team has placed OF Ryan Spilborghs (foot) on the 60-day disabled list and designated C Matt Pagnozzi for assignment.

Colorado Rockies C Matt Pagnozzi is hitting .286 and is considered solid defensively. However, the team is 0-7 during his starts with a 7.35 ERA, while the club is 32-35 with a 3.96 ERA with C Chris Iannetta behind the dish.

The Colorado Rockies recalled C Matt Pagnozzi from Triple-A Colorado Springs Friday, June 17, and placed C Jose Morales (thumb) on the 60-day disabled list with a fractured right thumb in a corresponding move. Pagnozzi was hitting .275 with one home run and 16 RBIs in 30 games at Class AAA.
