Seattle Mariners RP Hong-Chih Kuo (cold) worked with the late sports psychologist Harvey Dorfman to curtail his throwing issues after battling two serious cases of "the yips" during his time with the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Mariners are taking it easy with Kuo during the early days of camp, as he has been battling a bit of a cold.

The Seattle Mariners expect RP Hong-Chih Kuo to be a big part of their bullpen this season, and the team is keeping a close eye on his health and his mechanics this spring. "We're just watching the arm slot and his mechanics and how he's dealing with that," bullpen coach Jaime Navarro said. "We're going to keep a close watch on him through the spring. He has to keep the same arm slot and the mechanics. That's huge."

The Seattle Mariners signed free-agent RP Hong-Chih Kuo (Dodgers) to a one-year deal. His base salary will be $500,000 with $2.5 million in potential bonuses. He'll earn $1 million on the 25-man roster.
