Fri, 23 May 2008 10:16:43 -0700 The Associated Press reports former NFL OG Rich Tylski reached a deal Friday, May 23, to eventually drop child abuse charges against him after he admitted hitting his adopted daughter. Tylski will be in the prosecutors' program for first-time offenders for around a year or until he finishes anger and parenting classes. If he completes the program the charges will be dropped.
Fri, 21 Apr 2006 09:16:08 -0700 The Associated Press reports former NFL OG Rich Tylski and his wife were accused of hitting their adopted daughter with a belt, slamming her head on a table and other abuse that left the girl with broken bones in her hands and leg. Both Tylski and his wife, Jane, were free on $20,000 bond each on the child abuse and neglect charges.

Tylski, who took a year off after retiring from the New England Patriots, says he's completely healthy and wants back in. "I had arthritis and ankle sprain upon ankle sprain, and I really didn't know whether I was going to be able to withstand the pain until I actually got out there and tested it," said Tyliski, 32. When I did, I realized I needed time for my body to heal. I knew I had to hang it up." Tylski said he would like to return with the Patriots or another team willing to take a chance on him.

Head coach Bill Belichick spoke with Tylski Sunday night and said, "I think Rich just felt like he wasn't playing at a level he thought he should be playing at and that's a little different from him feeling that he didn't want to play football."

Well, not really. Like guard Joe Panos of a year ago, guard Rich Tylski served notice on Patriots head coach Bill Belichick that he's calling it quits. "I talked to Rich last night," said Belichick. "It was a real tough decision for him. He's been a starter for the last six years and he's been on some good football teams. I just think he felt that this was the right thing to do."

Tylski worked at both guard positions during the team's most recent minicamp, at times working with the first team.
