Larry Mayer, of ChicagoBears.com, reports, Chicago Bears QB Kurt Kittner says he's very familiar with the type of system new offensive coordinator Ron Turner likes to run. Turner was Kittner's head coach at the University of Illinois. "The offense is what we ran in college," Kittner said. "There are some plays that we didn't have in when I was in college and little things that he switched here and there. But the main core of the offense is still the same. He didn't change protections or anything like that." Kittner will battle for the No. 3 quarterback spot during training camp.

"There's no better place for me," Kittner said of Chicago, where he'll reunite with offensive coordinator Ron Turner. "You're so close to your family after being everywhere else."

Larry Mayer, of ChicagoBears.com, reports Chicago Bears QB Kurt Kittner, allocated to NFL Europe, hopes to receive a training camp invitation from the Bears this year, which would reunite him with offensive coordinator Ron Turner, who was the quarterback's head coach at Illinois. "It would be awesome," Kittner said. Kittner will compete in the NFL Europe World Bowl Saturday, June 11. He has completed 121 of 224 passes for 1,472 yards with nine touchdowns, 11 interceptions and a 67.4 quarterback rating for the Amsterdam Admirals in Europe.

Don Pierson, of the Chicago Tribune, reports the Chicago Bears have decided to postpone their search for a veteran quarterback until after the NFL draft in April. "We're going to wait until the draft," general manager Jerry Angelo said. "If we sign somebody now and then draft somebody, we'd have to cut whoever we sign. We're not sure there's anybody out there who would be an improvement over what we have with Craig Krenzel and Kurt Kittner." The Bears are seeking an experienced backup to QB Rex Grossman.

Michael Felger, of the Boston Herald, reports New England Patriots QB Rohan Davey is well ahead of QBs Kurt Kittner and Kliff Kingsbury in the race for the No. 2 quarterback job, according to Patriots head coach Bill Belichick. However, Belichick added that he will not be sold on Davey until he plays consistent football throughout the preseason exhibition games. "You are going to see a lot of Rohan in the preseason, I'll tell you that right now," said Belichick. "He's getting plenty of snaps in practice, and he's done well with that. He got a lot of playing experience in (NFL) Europe, but this is a little different level than that, and he needs to be able to perform at this level, for the coaches' sake, for his sake, for the confidence of the team's sake."
