Len Pasquarelli, of ESPN.com, reports the San Diego Chargers have signed DL Ryon Bingham to a three-year contract extension through the 2010 season. Financial terms of the deal were not available.

Casey Pearce, of Chargers.com, reports San Diego Chargers DL Ryon Bingham has improved over training camp and appears to have developed into a more than capable backup. Head coach Marty Schottenheimer said, "He has become a very solid player. He's playing fast and displaying some quickness because he understands what we're asking him to do. Ryon has gone places in his play that I didn't think early on that he would. He leads our team in tackles for loss after three preseason games."

Kevin Acee, of the San Diego Union-Tribune, reports the San Diego Chargers are in need of some depth at defensive tackle and DT Ryon Bingham may give that to them. Bingham is a seventh-round draft pick in 2004 who has been hampered the past two seasons by a torn biceps and has been active for just two games. Bingham says he is now 100 percent healthy. Head coach Marty Schottenheimer said Bingham is noticeably quicker, which is likely a product of him being healthy and knowing the defense better.
