Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said Friday, Dec. 24, that DL Junior Siavii (neck) has an "issue with his spinal cord," but he is not in any danger, reports The Associated Press. Siavii was placed on the Injured Reserve list earlier this week. Carroll said there was concern about bruising of the spinal cord that didn't show up on an MRI, although Siavii showed all the symptoms.

The Associated Press reports Kansas City Chiefs DL Junior Siavii has been sentenced to 80 hours of community service for assaulting a doorman in Minneapolis last summer. He is also required to complete substance abuse and anger management programs through the NFL and must avoid new charges against him in the next year. Siavii can do his community service in Kansas City. Siavii had pleaded guilty to fifth-degree assault for his role in the drunken confrontation.

Elizabeth Merrill, of the Kansas City Star, reports Kansas City Chiefs DL Junior Siavii is being sued by a former Minneapolis security guard who claims he was assaulted by Siavii in a late-night incident during training camp. Siavii was allegedly "very drunk" and started punching the guard, Islam Essa, when he was not allowed inside a nightclub on the first floor of a hotel. Essa is asking for damages for assault, battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. He is also asking for punitive damages and attorney fees and costs.

Elizabeth Merrill, of the Kansas City Star, reports Kansas City Chiefs DL Junior Siavii has been given an Oct. 6 court date to appear on charges stemming from a late-night disturbance at a Minneapolis hotel last weekend. He was not present Wednesday morning, Aug. 17, as his lawyer entered not-guilty pleas for one count of disorderly conduct and one count of fifth-degree assault. Both charges are misdemeanors. The maximum penalty for disorderly conduct is a year in jail and a $3,000 fine, according to Minnesota statutes and the maximum penalty for fifth-degree assault is 90 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.

"It's through no fault of their own, but if you can't practice you can't play. We put Junior in the game last week and he comes up with a swollen knee, then he comes up with a swollen head. It ain't funny. It's critical in his career right now to do more things right."

The Minneapolis Star Tribune reports Kansas City Chiefs DL Junior Siavii and S Greg Wesley were arrested early Sunday morning, Aug. 14. According to police reports, Siavii was "extremely intoxicated," throwing objects and yelling obscenities at a man about 1:15 a.m. in the lobby of the Graves 601 Hotel. As officers attempted to arrest Siavii, Wesley blocked the exit and charged the officers. Bob Moore, director of public relations for the Chiefs, said that he was aware of the arrests but that the team would "let the legal system take its course" and likely wouldn't take disciplinary action against Siavii and Wesley. Police records indicated Siavii was booked on suspicion of disorderly conduct and fifth-degree assault. Wesley was booked on suspicion of disorderly conduct.
