Toronto Blue Jays RP Sergio Santos (shoulder) has not been able to throw off a mound at this point but the team is hoping he will be able to at some point this week. He will have to throw at least four or five bullpen sessions before he starts a rehab assignment.

Toronto Blue Jays RP Sergio Santos (shoulder) has been throwing 120 feet but hopes to be able to throw from around 250 feet by the end of the week. Santos would pitch off a mound a few times if the long toss is successful and then would start a rehab assignment.

Toronto Blue Jays RP Sergio Santos (shoulder) threw from 90 feet in Florida Monday, May 14, and his next step will be to stretch it out to 120-150 feet. There is no timetable for his return.

Toronto Blue Jays RP Casey Janssen will take over as the interim closer until RP Sergio Santos (shoulder) returns from the disabled list. RPs Jason Frasor, Darren Oliver and Luis Perez will serve in middle relief, and RP Francisco Cordero will fill in where needed.

Fantasy Tip: Janssen should be added in the short term if you're hurting for saves at this juncture, but keep in mind that Santos will probably be back in another two to three weeks - he resumed throwing yesterday - unless he suffers a setback. Cordero can safely be dropped in most leagues.

Updating previous reports, Toronto Blue Jays CL Sergio Santos (shoulder) had an MRI reveal no structural damage in his right shoulder. He won't throw for 10-14 days and will be evaluated at that time.

Toronto Blue Jays CL Sergio Santos (shoulder) has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with right shoulder inflammation. Manager John Farrell said RP Francisco Cordero will step in as the interim closer.

Fantasy Tip: Fantasy owners should stash Santos away until he is healthy, and Cordero needs to be a target for save-hungry teams. He has posted a 4.50 ERA and a 1.50 WHIP in 6.0 innings of work this season.
