Red Sox | Still no Hanley Ramirez

Wed, 02 Sep 2015 09:54:59 -0700

Boston Red Sox OF Hanley Ramirez (shoulder) remains out of the starting lineup Wednesday, Sept. 2. OF Rusney Castillo is starting in left field and hitting sixth against New York Yankees SP Masahiro Tanaka.

Fantasy Tip: There appears no return in sight for Ramirez ($4,100, 8.2% of cap), and he will not play the outfield again this year. It's getting to that point where he could just be held out to end the year with Boston not playing for a postseason berth. Castillo ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) hit .338 (27-for-80) with three home runs and 18 RBI and is finishing off the 2015 season strong with everyday playing. He's not a bad option on FantasyScore.

Red Sox | Hanley Ramirez won't return to OF

Tue, 01 Sep 2015 13:50:56 -0700

Boston Red Sox OF Hanley Ramirez (shoulder) will not play the outfield again this year, according to interim manager Torey Lovullo, and the team is "hopeful" that Ramirez can play first base before the end of the season.

Fantasy Tip: It's looking increasingly unlikely that Ramirez ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) can make much of an impact for his fantasy owners for the rest of the 2015 season. Dropping him in deep mixed leagues wouldn't be the end of the world. His injury has led to everyday playing time for both Rusney Castillo ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) and Jackie Bradley Jr. ($5,000, 10.0% of cap).

Red Sox | Hanley Ramirez out Tuesday

Tue, 01 Sep 2015 12:37:52 -0700

Boston Red Sox OF Hanley Ramirez (shoulder) is out for the fifth day in a row due to shoulder issues. OF Jackie Bradley Jr. is in the lineup and hitting ninth against New York Yankees SP Michael Pineda.

Fantasy Tip: Indications are this shoulder has been hurting Ramirez ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) for longer than just a few days, and Bradley ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) has been better-hitting and fantastic on defense. This is likely why Ramirez is learning first base. Keep Ramirez seated from any FantasyScore lineups, and it may be time to consider shelving him for the season.

Red Sox | Hanley Ramirez talks shoulder injury

Mon, 31 Aug 2015 13:48:38 -0700

Updating a previous report, Boston Red Sox OF Hanley Ramirez (shoulder) said his right should have been bothering him for weeks.

Fantasy Tip: As noted in a previous tip, Ramirez's ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) production has been hurting fantasy owners for weeks. He has a .193/.223/.333 slash line since Wednesday, July 1, and at this point, it isn't out of the question to bench him in all seasonal leagues until he shows signs of life at the dish.

Red Sox | Still no Hanley Ramirez

Mon, 31 Aug 2015 12:41:37 -0700

Boston Red Sox OF Hanley Ramirez (shoulder) is not in the starting lineup Monday, Aug. 31. OF Jackie Bradley Jr. is starting in left field and batting ninth against New York Yankees SP Ivan Nova Monday.

Fantasy Tip: Rusney Castillo ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) is also in the lineup, and stands as an excellent value play alongside Bradley ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) at FantasyScore Monday. After all, Nova ($6,100, 12.2% of cap) owns a 7.17 ERA over his past four starts. Ramirez ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) has been a serious disappointment dating back to the beginning of July, as he owns a .193/.223/.333 slash line since. He has only played 14 games in August, too.

Red Sox | No Hanley Ramirez vs. Mets

Sun, 30 Aug 2015 07:19:45 -0700

Boston Red Sox OF Hanley Ramirez (shoulder) is not in the starting lineup Sunday, Aug. 30. OF Alejandro De Aza is playing left field and batting eighth against New York Mets SP Noah Syndergaard Sunday.

Fantasy Tip: Ramirez ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) has been out since Wednesday, Aug. 26, as he seems to be battling a continuous string of injuries. Seasonal owners will want to remain patient. The injury isn't expected to be serious. Typically, De Aza ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) is a worthy FantasyScore flier, but Snydergaard ($7,900, 15.8% of cap) owns a sub-2.00 ERA at Citi Field, so you should be able to find better value in daily contests Sunday.

Red Sox | Hanley Ramirez out with shoulder fatigue

Fri, 28 Aug 2015 14:47:25 -0700

Updating a previous report, Boston Red Sox OF Hanley Ramirez (shoulder) is dealing with right shoulder fatigue and is considered day-to-day.

Fantasy Tip: Ramirez ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) is a notoriously slow healer, so don't be shocked if he misses some time. Jackie Bradley Jr. ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) and Rusney Castillo ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) should both see full-time duty for the duration of Ramirez's absence. Continue to check back for updates and double-check the Boston lineup before locking your own rosters this weekend.

Red Sox | Hanley Ramirez scratched

Fri, 28 Aug 2015 13:45:31 -0700

Boston Red Sox OF Hanley Ramirez (undisclosed) is a late scratch from the starting lineup Friday, Aug. 28. OF Jackie Bradley Jr. is replacing him in left field against New York Mets SP Matt Harvey Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Ramirez ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) can't stay healthy, and it has seriously capped his seasonal value. FantasyScore players will want to make sure to avoid him Friday. Bradley ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) draws a tough matchup against Harvey ($9,400, 18.8% of cap), so you're likely best to look elsewhere in daily contests. Check back for updates on Ramirez's status.

Red Sox | No David Ortiz vs. White Sox

Wed, 26 Aug 2015 15:02:34 -0700

Boston Red Sox 1B David Ortiz is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, Aug. 26. OF Hanley Ramirez is batting fourth as the designated hitter against Chicago White Sox SP Chris Sale, which allowed OFs Jackie Bradley Jr. and Rusney Castillo to draw into the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: While Sale ($9,300, 18.6% of cap) has had a few peaks and valleys of late, he presents a brutally tough matchup, and starting Boston hitters at FantasyScore is incredibly risky. Unless you're after a contrarian stack, you're likely better off avoiding them entirely.

Red Sox | Hanley Ramirez confirms move to 1B

Tue, 25 Aug 2015 18:10:56 -0700

Updating a previous report, Boston Red Sox OF Hanley Ramirez confirmed Tuesday, Aug. 25, that he is moving to first base by next season, and he is also on board with management's decision. "I'm looking forward to it," Ramirez said.

Fantasy Tip: The move will allow Rusney Castillo ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) and Jackie Bradley Jr. ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) to play outfield full-time in 2015. It's uncertain what this means for the future of 1B Travis Shaw, a big-time prospect waiting in the wings.
