Sun, 16 Jun 2013 18:02:41 -0700 Updating a previous report, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Joe Blanton will get a chance to start Tuesday, June 18, against the Seattle Mariners. His turn in the rotation was skipped over the weekend. Fantasy Tip: Blanton is 1-10 with a 5.87 ERA in 13 starts this season, and he has allowed three or more earned runs in 10 of his outings. He wasn't half bad in his only start against the Mariners this season, allowing three runs in six innings with five strikeouts in a loss April 27, but he isn't worth using in anything but the deepest of AL-only fantasy leagues at this point.
Sun, 16 Jun 2013 11:52:04 -0700 Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Joe Blanton will pitch Tuesday, June 18, against the Seattle Mariners.
Wed, 12 Jun 2013 09:56:31 -0700 Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Joe Blanton will be skipped in the rotation this weekend. "We'll push him back a couple of days with (Thursday's) off day and see where he'll fold in," manager Mike Scioscia said. "We'll see how some guys come out of some starts and go from there." Blanton has allowed a major league-high 111 hits. Opponents have batted .332 against him. Fantasy Tip: This might be the best way for AL-only owners to salvage some value from the fifth spot in the Halos' rotation. Williams should be on the radar there again, and if he keeps pitching as well as he has, he'll be useful in deep mixed leagues, too.
Wed, 05 Jun 2013 20:41:44 -0700 Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Jerome Williams was moved from the starting rotation to the bullpen, as manager Mike Scioscia elected to keep SPs Jered Weaver, C.J. Wilson, Jason Vargas, Tommy Hanson and Joe Blanton as his starting five pitchers. Fantasy Tip: Williams had recorded five straight quality starts, and was 3-2 with a 3.08 ERA as a starter. He will be used as a long-relief specialist, and Scioscia did not rule out a return to the rotation if the situation should arise. However, fantasy owners will want to drop him in all but the deepest of AL-only leagues and rotisserie formats, where he can still help in the ERA and WHIP categories.
Tue, 28 May 2013 16:14:20 -0700 Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Tommy Hanson is expected to start Friday, May 31. Fantasy Tip: Hanson's return likely spells a return to the bullpen for Jerome Williams. However, Joe Blanton could also be in danger of losing his rotation spot after he's been very mediocre with his new team. For now, though, look for Williams to lose his starting spot, taking what little fantasy value he had gained away.
Tue, 28 May 2013 09:05:34 -0700 Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Tommy Hanson (personal) could start Friday, May 30, if the team decides to keep SP Joe Blanton in the starting rotation.
Sat, 18 May 2013 23:29:51 -0700 Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Joe Blanton gave up four runs and 11 hits in 4 1/3 innings but did not get a decision in a 12-9 win over the Chicago White Sox on Saturday, May 18. Blanton is 0-7 with a 6.62 ERA in his first nine starts with the Angels.
Tue, 16 Apr 2013 21:27:06 -0700 Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim manager Mike Scioscia, pitching coach Mike Butcher and Cs Hank Conger and Chris Iannetta held a lengthy closed-door meeting Tuesday, April 16, with SP Joe Blanton. The pitcher has struggled, going 0-3 with an 8.59 ERA. "It was just a conversation, no real message," Blanton said. "They want me to get back to the things I was doing in spring training."
Tue, 16 Apr 2013 10:36:03 -0700 Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Joe Blanton has an ERA of 8.59 over his first three starts of the season, and he's surrendered 26 hits and six home runs in 14 2/3 innings this year. He allowed nine hits (two homers) and four earned runs while walking one and striking out four in his loss to the Minnesota Twins Monday, April 15.
Wed, 19 Dec 2012 15:02:54 -0800 Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Jason Vargas is expected to join a rotation next year that includes SPs Jered Weaver, C.J. Wilson, Tommy Hanson and Joe Blanton. SP Jerome Williams is likely to return to a long-relief role and SP Garrett Richards is likely to begin the year at Class AAA.
