Updating a previous report, Oakland Athletics SP Scott Kazmir (triceps) left his outing Sunday, April 13, due to triceps tightness. The injury is considered minor, and it is not expected to prohibit him from making his next scheduled start Saturday, April 19, against the Houston Astros.
Fantasy Tip: Fantasy owners might want to play it safe and reserve Kazmir, even with a juicy matchup against Houston, as he had a drop in velocity in his outing Sunday and that makes a pitcher who doesn't throw all that fast to begin with very hittable.

Oakland Athletics SP Scott Kazmir (forearm) left the game after six innings Sunday, April 13, with a possible injury. He was seen clutching his left forearm in the dugout. Scouts said his velocity dropped in his last inning of work, and he was wiggling his fingers a lot after one pitch.

Oakland Athletics C Derek Norris said SP Scott Kazmir (back) was dealing with a little back stiffness Monday, April 7. Kazmir said his mechanics weren't affected during his start against the Minnesota Twins, and the issue isn't a concern.

Oakland Athletics SP Scott Kazmir allowed just three hits and no walks over 7 1/3 innings in a win against the Cleveland Indians Wednesday, April 2, in the first game of a doubleheader. He also struck out five batters in the 94-pitch effort. He pitched for the Indians in 2013. "He gave us a taste of our own medicine from what we saw last year," OF Nick Swisher said. "I just hate that it happened to us."

The game between the Cleveland Indians and Oakland Athletics Tuesday, April 1, was rained out, so SP Scott Kazmir will now be pushed back to start Game 1 of a day-night doubleheader Wednesday, April 2. He was then expected to pitch Sunday, April 6, but he will be pushed back a day. "I'll be ready to go early tomorrow. It'll be a lot warmer and drier, so I'm happy about that. I kind of like day games, though. I like getting up and going right to it, instead," Kazmir said.
Fantasy Tip: Fantasy owners who were hoping for a two-start week from Kazmir to kick off the regular season will now have him for just outing. But the good news is that he appears to be on tap for a two-start week in the second fantasy period, so be patient.

Oakland Athletics SP Jesse Chavez is on track to slot into the rotation behind SPs Scott Kazmir and Dan Straily, and his anticipated regular season debut would be April 2. "I like it, it's fun. It just gives me more confidence that they have confidence I can do it. I'm going to try to ride that wave of confidence," Sanchez said Tuesday, March 18.
Fantasy Tip: Chavez will be worth a look in deeper AL-only fantasy leagues, but those in mixed formats won't want to bother with him.
