The Washington Times' Rick Snider reports Washington Redskins DE Dorian Boose will get his chance in the limelight Monday night when he gets the start in place of the injured Bruce Smith (shoulder). Last week he sat out to serve his one-game suspension. Boose is a promising pass rusher who needs to improve his run defense. Tyrone Williams, after playing extensively against the Giants, will spell left end Kenard Lang and Boose.

The Washington Times reports the Washington Redskins placed backup CB Donovan Greer on IR with serious ACL injury. Coach Marty Schottenheimer wouldn't say whether Greer's ACL is torn, but the coach expects him to undergo knee surgery. CB Central McClellion was added from the practice squad to replace Greer. The team also signed free agent DL Tyrone Williams. He played 10 games for the Kansas City Chiefs and three games for the Philadelphia Eagles last season.

The Washington Post reports the Washington Redskins held workouts for WR/PR Tamarick Vanover, formerly of the Chiefs, OL Calvin Collins, formerly of the Falcons and DT Tyrone Williams, formerly of the Chiefs earlier today. Coach Marty Schottenheimer said he told Vanover he had no need for a returner because he is happy with Michael Bates and did not sign Collins or Williams.

The team's official site reports the Kansas City Chiefs have released OT Ian Allen, TE Mark Thomas, S Lyle West, S Brad Trout, G Robert Hunt, WR Geroy Simon, DT Tyrone Williams, DE Kendrick Gholston, DB Dyshod Carter, QB Ryan Helming, WR J.J. Moses, LB Wes Robertson, and PK Lawrence Tynes. They also placed WR Sylvester Morris on the Reserve/PUP list and DE Terdell Sands on the Reserve/Non-Football Injury list.
