Miami Dolphins head coach Nick Saban said OL Tony Pape has been committed to returning to play football. "That's why we wanted him to come back," said Saban. "He wanted to come back. He's been here and worked hard in the offseason program and hopefully he's guy that can develop, that can contribute depth in the offensive line this year."

Alex Marvez, of the Sun-Sentinel, reports OL Tony Pape re-joined the Miami Dolphins for the start of their offseason conditioning program Monday, March 20. Pape spent last season on the Dolphins' Reserve/Did Not Report list after failing to arrive for training camp. Pape said that decision stemmed from being "burnt out" after playing in NFL Europe during the spring. Pape said he contacted the Dolphins roughly five weeks ago to express interest in playing again. The Dolphins declined comment on Pape's return. Pape, though, said he met with head coach Nick Saban.

Miami Dolphins head coach Nick Saban said he is assuming OL Tony Pape has retired. He has not spoken to Pape about his plans. Saban said the team is placing Pape on the retired list. "If he wants to come back and play for us, we will decide what to do with him at that time," said Saban.

According to Miami Dolphins OT Tony Pape, during training camp for NFL Europe's Berlin Thunder in Tampa, Fla., Dolphins FB Ben Moa saved a drowning youth at the team's hotel. In a diary excerpt for MiamiDolphins.com, Pape wrote: "Ben was standing around the pool after soaking in the hot tub when a panicing young girl tried to get his attention. She was panting 'brother, brother' and pointed to the bottom of the pool. Her four-year-old brother was drowning at the bottom of the pool…Ben dove into the pool and scooped the four-year-old boy up off the floor of the pool. Thankfully, the boy began to breathe on his own after being pulled out of the water by Ben." No official comment on incident was released by the Thunder or the Dolphins.
