Falcons | More details of Vick's dog abuse revealed Sat, 22 Nov 2008 06:24:51 -0800 Kelly Naqi, of ESPN.com, reports suspended Atlanta Falcons QB Michael Vick placed family pet dogs into a ring and his trained pit bulls "caused major injuries" to the pets at Bad Newz Kennels, according to a U.S. Department of Agriculture report released Friday, Nov. 21. The report added Vick, along with friends Tony Taylor, Purnell Peace and Quanis Phillips, thought it was funny to watch the pit bulls injure or kill the other dogs. The report also states in mid-April of 2007, Vick, Peace and Phillips hung approximately three dogs that did not perform well in a "rolling session," which indicates the readiness of a dog to fight. According to the report, the three men hung the dogs "by placing a nylon cord over a 2 X 4 that was nailed to two trees located next to the big shed. They also drowned approximately three dogs by putting the dogs' heads in a five gallon bucket of water."
Falcons | Vick in Virginia to face dogfighting charges Fri, 21 Nov 2008 10:18:10 -0800 The Associated Press reports Atlanta Falcons QB Michael Vick is back in Virginia to face state dogfighting charges. Hopewell Regional Jail Superintendent Darnley Hodge said Friday, Nov. 21, that Vick is being held in protective custody. Vick is due in Surry County Circuit Court Tuesday, Nov. 25, where he is expected to plead guilty in a deal with prosecutors that calls for a suspended sentence and probation.

"The Debtor has every reason to believe that upon his release, he will be reinstated into the NFL, resume his career and be able to earn a substantial living," Vick's attorneys wrote in a disclosure statement filed before a hearing Thursday, Nov. 13, in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Norfolk.
Falcons | Judge rules Vick must appear in court to enter plea Thu, 30 Oct 2008 09:23:11 -0700 Updating a previous report, the Associated Press reports a Virginia judge denied Atlanta Falcons QB Michael Vick's request to plead guilty via video to a state dogfighting charge. Vick has been ordered to appear in court Tuesday, Nov. 25. However, the judge said a plea agreement has been reached and the only hold-up appears to be Vick's presence in court. Vick's lawyers hope the former quarterback will be allowed to leave prison sooner by pleading guilty.

The New Jersey Bureau of Securities filed a civil complaint Friday, Aug. 8, that accuses David A. Talbot and two other men of spending more than $500,000 from investors on themselves. The complaint says the men appealed to the investors' religious beliefs by telling some of them the money would be used for charity, including the purchase of a church.

Ledbetter, of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, reports Atlanta Falcons QB Michael Vick filed Chapter 11 documents Monday, July 7, that cited debts of between $10 million and $50 million. Seven creditors were listed in the documents and the Falcons were one of them. Vick apparently owes a debt of $3.75 million to the team, which was listed as a prorated signing bonus. The largest of his creditors is listed as Joel Enterprises with a claim of $4.5 million.

Vick filed Chapter 11 papers in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Newport News, Va. Monday, July 7. The seven largest creditors listed in the court papers are owed a total of roughly $12.8 million.
