The NFL is expected to decide as soon as Monday, March 10, on the status of Tampa Bay Buccaneers PK Lawrence Tynes (toe). It is expected that Tynes will either be classified as a free agent or that the Buccaneers still hold his rights for a year.

The NFL players association filed a grievance against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Tuesday, Oct. 1, in support of PK Lawrence Tynes.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers PK Lawrence Tynes (toe) is unhappy that he was placed on the Non-Football Injury list and is prepared to file an expedited grievance against the Buccaneers in an attempt to force the team to place him on Injured Reserve. The team is willing to pay Tynes' salary while he is on the NFI list, but Tynes would not receive an accrued season, full benefits and another season toward his pension if he is not moved from the NFI list to Injured Reserve.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers PK Lawrence Tynes (toe) is not responding at all to treatment for a severe staph infection in his toe, according to his wife Amanda.
"I hear my husband is responding 'well,' to treatment. LOL! He's NOT responding at all yet. This is our #bucslife," she posted on Twitter.
Fantasy Tip: As previously reported, Tynes could take weeks and even months to recover, so it is time to cross him off your cheat sheets.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers PK Lawrence Tynes (toe) has returned to his home in Kansas City, where he's receiving additional treatment for his case of MRSA. RB Brandon Jacobs tweeted that Tynes has received a peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) line. A PICC line is used when the patient is expected to receive antibiotics for more than a few days and allows him to return home yet still receive IV treatment, which can last for weeks or even months. The team seems likely to place him on the non-football-injury list to begin the season.
Fantasy Tip: Rian Lindell is the Bucs' kicker for now. Nick Folk or Dan Carpenter is likely to be looking for work soon, too, though. Last year the Bucs generated a decent run of opportunities for their booter, so the name could eventually matter for those who recycle.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers OG Carl Nicks (toe) and PK Lawrence Tynes (toe) have been diagnosed with MRSA, which is a serious staph infection that is resistant to penicillin-type treatment. Tynes had surgery this week on his infected toe. The Buccaneers recently had their facility cleaned and sanitized to try to erase all of the infections.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers PK Lawrence Tynes (toe) did not play in the preseason opener against the Baltimore Ravens Thursday, Aug. 8. PK Derek Dimke kicked in the veteran's absence.
Fantasy Tip: Greg Schiano said earlier in training camp that Dimke would be given a chance to compete with Tynes, and the fact the veteran is sidelined with an injury isn't great for his chances. Still, you have to give the veteran the edge for the job until told otherwise by the head coach.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Mike Williams (hamstring), CB Darrelle Revis (undisclosed), CB Johnthan Banks (hamstring) and PK Lawrence Tynes (toe) are back at practice Monday, Aug. 5.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Greg Schiano said PK Derek Dimke will be given the chance to compete with PK Lawrence Tynes for the kicker job during training camp.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Greg Schiano discussed how losing PK Connor Barth (Achilles') could affect the team's plans in 2013, saying Barth was a weapon with longer field goals. Schiano said he is not sure if PK Lawrence Tynes will be as effective from those distances. "I thought Connor was a weapon in the longer field goals," Schiano said. "He was exceptional over 40 yards. We'll have to play that out. I have not coached Lawrence at all. So, I couldn't tell you. I just look at the numbers. But we'll see. That'll all play itself out."
Fantasy Tip: Even if Tynes does not have the same distance Barth did, he is still a safe option for the Buccaneers and fantasy owners after converting on 33-of-39 attempts in 2012.
