Nationals | Chien-Ming Wang to have one more start

Washington Nationals SP Chien-Ming Wang will make one more regular season start, according to manager Davey Johnson. Wang will likely start against the St. Louis Cardinals this weekend. He's not expected to make the playoff roster, though, as the team will likely go with only four starters, SPs Gio Gonzalez, Jordan Zimmermann, Edwin Jackson and Ross Detwiler.

The Washington Nationals have named SP Jordan Zimmermann as their fifth starter, according to Chico Harlan of The Washington Post. He will start the season in the minors, because the team will use a four-man rotation for the first two weeks of the year, before being recalled Sunday, April 19. Zimmermann could be sent to Triple-A Syracuse to open the year, unless weather concerns prompt the Nationals to send him to Class A instead. He will throw a 40-pitch simulated game Tuesday, March 31.

The Washington Nationals have named SPs Shairon Martis as their fourth starter, according to Chico Harlan of The Washington Post. Manager Manny Acta said he was given the role due to having slightly better statistics this spring than SP Jordan Zimmermann. Martis will make his next start Tuesday, March 31, against the Detroit Tigers.
