The New York Jets are trying to build position versatility along the offensive line, so a handful of players lined up at different positions Wednesday, June 12, at minicamp. OGs Willie Colon and Stephen Peterman swapped sides, with Colon working at right guard, and Peterman at left guard. OTs Vladimir Ducasse and Oday Aboushi also shifted sides, with Ducasse playing at left tackle, and Aboushi at right tackle.

Detroit Lions general manager Martin Mayhew said he expects the teams high draft picks to be on the field quickly because of the needs of the team. "That's a fair statement, but it's also fair to say we had more holes coming into it, or more holes that we knew about, coming into this draft than we did last year," Mayhew said. "We do expect a lot of those guys, especially guys that we took early, to be on the field pretty quickly." First-round pick DE Ezekiel Ansah was drafted to replace DE Kyle Vanden Bosch. Second round pick CB Darius Slay will compete with CB Bill Bentley. Third round pick OG Larry Warford will likely replace OG Stephen Peterman.

Lions | Riley Reiff could become starter

Detroit Lions OT Riley Reiff could become a starter on the offensive line later this year after he saw 22 of 78 offensive snaps in the team's Week 6 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles, which was the most playing time he's had this year. He played only nine offensive snaps in the first four games. Reiff needs some work in pass blocking, but he's proven very successful in run blocking so far. Reiff could replace OT Stephen Peterman, who has been very inconsistent this season.

Detroit Lions OG Stephen Peterman looks to have a leg up in the battle for the starting right guard job, although it will definitely be determined during training camp and the preseason games. It is possible, however, that if OT Riley Reiff does not take over at left tackle for OT Jeff Backus or right tackle for Gosder Cherilus, he could challenge Peterman at RG.

Detroit Lions OG Stephen Peterman said the right foot injury that lingered for most of the season has fully healed. He suffered a torn muscle between his big toe and second toe. He had to wear protective metal plates in his cleats for several games because of the injury.

However, the injury does not appear to be serious, according to head coach Jim Schwartz. RT Gosder Cherilus and Jon Jansen continue to share first-string reps, while LT Jeff Backus, LG Rob Sims, C Dominic Raiola and RG Stephen Peterman appear set with the first-string unit. The second-string consists of LT Corey Hilliard, LG Roy Schuening, C Dylan Gandy, RG Manuel Ramirez and Jansen at RT. Rookie OT Jason Fox has also been seeing some reps on the left side.
