Hardwick raised questions about his future late in the season when he said he was considering retirement; however, now, he would like to re-sign with the Chargers for next season. "I guess we'll just have to see where that goes," Hardwick said, "I obviously have a lot of best friends in that building, including on the coaching staff. I'd certainly like (to stay). I hope I'm in their plans. If not, we're ready to go on."

The San Diego Chargers might have gotten a glimpse into the future at center Monday, Dec. 5, when C Colin Baxter came on in place of the injured C Nick Hardwick (neck) in Week 13. "It's pretty impressive what he did," head coach Norv Turner said. Baxter held his own, and might be the center of the future with Hardwick an unrestricted free agent after this season and, according to one source, will be seeking a substantial contract.
