News.com.au reports the Seattle Mariners signed P Aaron Thorne to a contract worth $175,000. He will finish his HSC at Gilroy College this year before heading to Seattle in March 2005. He was spotted two years ago by Seattle Mariners scout and NSW Institute of Sport pitching coach Barry Holland. Thorne signed the deal on his 17th birthday and has reached 90 mph at 16 years of age. "I've been striving towards it but I didn't expect it to happen so soon," Thorne said. "It's a bit of a shock - it still hasn't sunk in."
