The Chicago Tribune reports former Philadelphia Phillies RP Mitch Williams escaped injury when his Chrysler 300 was involved in a car fire at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia. Someone left a barbecue grill smoldering in the lot and it ignited the car's engine.

The Associated Press reports former MLB CL Mitch Williams resigned as manager of the Atlantic City Surf. In his first full season as Atlantic City's manager, Williams went 63-63 in 2003. His career record with Atlantic City was 112-90.
