Ravens | Two Ravens to IR

Mon, 29 Aug 2016 07:00:33 -0700

Baltimore Ravens TE Benjamin Watson (Achilles') and CB Kyle Arrington (undisclosed) were placed on the Reserve/Injured list Monday, Aug. 29.

Fantasy Tip: The Ravens' depth at tight end has been decimated by injury, and Crockett Gillmore is the last one standing. He's little more than a TE2 in fantasy. Dennis Pitta could resurface into the fantasy spotlight if he has anything left after two major hip injuries.

Ravens | Ben Watson suffers torn Achilles'

Sat, 27 Aug 2016 16:39:43 -0700

Baltimore Ravens TE Benjamin Watson (Achilles') left the field after only two plays Saturday, Aug. 27, against the Detroit Lions, and was later diagnosed with a torn Achilles', ending his season.

Fantasy Tip: It's a crushing blow as the Ravens lured Watson away from the New Orleans Saints this offseason with a two-year, $7 million deal. The nature of the injury is such that it is possible they might get no return on investment on the 35-year-old tight end. With Dennis Pitta and Maxx Williams sidelined by injuries, Baltimore is already down to Crockett Gillmore at the position. If Pitta and Williams are unable to heal quickly, Gillmore could be the Week 1 starter and have the same kind of TE2 impact he had last season.

Ravens | Competition helping Maxx Williams

Sat, 06 Aug 2016 17:46:59 -0700

Baltimore Ravens TE Maxx Williams has looked healthier and stronger during training camp this year, according to beat writer Mike Preston, and Preston believes the added competition from TE Dennis Pitta and TE Benjamin Watson is making Williams a better player.

Fantasy Tip: The added competition may help him improve as a player, but it is also going to eat into Williams' targets and prevent him from being a worthwhile fantasy option. Outside of dynasty leagues, he can be left undrafted.

Ravens | Benjamin Watson adjusting to new team

Fri, 29 Jul 2016 19:14:07 -0700

Baltimore Ravens TE Benjamin Watson said he was still working on his timing after the first day of training camp Thursday, July 28, and at one point, he lined up on the outside in a four-receiver set.

Fantasy Tip: Watson isn't going to be able to duplicate the numbers he put up last year while in New Orleans, and he isn't worth drafting outside of leagues that require two tight ends.

Ravens | Maxx Williams tries to stay relevant

Tue, 14 Jun 2016 21:56:27 -0700

Baltimore Ravens TE Maxx Williams had a promising finish to his rookie season, but he faces plenty of competition for targets with WR Dennis Pitta back from injury and veteran WR Benjamin Watson joining the fray. He cannot afford to fade into the background with all of the competition.

Ravens | Benjamin Watson financials

Tue, 08 Mar 2016 15:14:22 -0800

New Orleans Saints impending free-agent TE Benjamin Watson will sign with the Baltimore Ravens Wednesday, March 9. It's a two-year deal worth $8 million.

Fantasy Tip: As stated earlier, Watson's value takes a decent hit in Baltimore. He's coming off a resurrection of a season last year, but he's no longer in the starting fantasy tight end conversation.

Ravens | Benjamin Watson heading to Baltimore

Tue, 08 Mar 2016 12:10:11 -0800

Updating a previous report, New Orleans Saints impending free-agent TE Benjamin Watson has agreed in principle to a deal with the Baltimore Ravens, according to a source. Details of the deal were not disclosed.

Fantasy Tip: Watson had a career year with the Saints in 2015, but that's about to drastically change in Baltimore. The Ravens spent a high pick on Maxx Williams recently, so they'll likely use Watson more as a blocker. That kills any fantasy value he really had.

Ravens | Benjamin Watson likely leaving Saints

Tue, 08 Mar 2016 12:05:10 -0800

New Orleans Saints impending free-agent TE Benjamin Watson is not expected to return to the Saints and should sign with the Baltimore Ravens, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Watson's fantasy value takes a hit with a move to Baltimore where he will be targeted by a mediocre Joe Flacco instead of an elite Drew Brees. Steve Smith and Kamar Aiken still figure to be the top two receiving threats for the Ravens. Watson should start, but Maxx Williams and Crockett Gillmore will see some playing time, too. Don't draft Watson as your starting fantasy tight end.

Ravens | Baltimore eyeing Benjamin Watson

Tue, 08 Mar 2016 10:53:36 -0800

The Baltimore Ravens are showing strong interest in New Orleans Saints impending free-agent TE Benjamin Watson, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Watson's fantasy value is highest if he remains in New Orleans with Drew Brees. The veteran tight end caught a career-high 74 passes for 825 yards and six touchdowns in 2015. He'd probably be more of a focal point in the offense in Baltimore, but he'd likely be nothing more than a fringe fantasy starting tight end with questions surrounding the rest of the Ravens receiving corps.

Saints | Benjamin Watson likely to remain in NO

Fri, 04 Mar 2016 12:17:14 -0800

Impending free-agent TE Benjamin Watson (Saints) appears to be a good bet to return to the New Orleans Saints, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Watson had a career year in his age-35 season in 2015, finishing with 74 catches for 825 yards and six touchdowns. The 12-year veteran is among the best blockers in the league at his position, so he would be a sound investment for the Saints. Assuming he returns and New Orleans doesn't address the position further in the offseason, Watson should be considered a low-end TE1 in 2016.
