Jose Miguel Romero, of the Seattle Times, reports the Seattle Seahawks are looking to improve their kickoff return game in 2006. RB Josh Scobey was the team's kickoff returner in 2005 and goes into next season as the incumbent, although the team would like to look at backup RB Maurice Morris at the position. Scobey will also be challenged by RB Marquis Weeks, who was on Seattle's practice squad in 2005, and perhaps RB Ran Carthon, who worked out at the position last weekend. WR Keenan Howry has been both a kickoff and punt returner.

Tom James, of the Tribune-Star, reports Indianapolis Colts RB Ran Carthon (Achilles') has been bothered the last week by an Achilles' tendon injury. He has missed all but one practice since Saturday, May 21 when the injury occurred. "He's got an Achilles' injury at the very bottom [of his foot]," head coach Tony Dungy said. "You usually have that kind of injury higher but this is at the bottom where it connects. It's just an aggravation right now." He's expected to miss two weeks of action.

"We paid pretty handsomely to get him," team President Bill Polian said. "He wanted to come here because he thinks his style suits us. He's a big guy, and we think he may be a double-duty guy for us. We felt it was worth the investment."
