Raiders.com reports the Oakland Raiders hired James Lofton as their new wide receivers coach Wednesday, Feb. 6. Lofton was previously the wide receivers coach for the San Diego Chargers from 2002-07. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Jerry McDonald, of ANG Newspapers, reports Oakland Raiders executive John Herrera has denied rumors about the team hiring James Lofton to join the coaching staff without head coach Lane Kiffin's approval. Herrera said the team is working on a deal with Lofton but nothing is in place, and also said Kiffin has knowledge of the situation. "Lane knew that if the organization could agree to terms that James would be on board," Herrera said. "We haven't finalized an agreement. We hope to in the next few days."

The Associated Press reports the Oakland Raiders are close to finalizing a deal with James Lofton as the team's receivers coach Thursday, Jan. 31. Lofton was fired as the San Diego Chargers wide receivers coach after the team lost to the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Game.

Mike Spofford, of Packers.com, reports Green Bay Packers RB Ahman Green eclipsed the 10,000 yards from scrimmage milestone after totaling 131 yards (63 rushing, 68 receiving) during Week 3. Green now has 10,122 yards from scrimmage for his career. In addition, Green surpassed former Packers RB Jim Taylor for second place on the Packers' all-time list with 9,791 yards. Green is just 111 yards shy from former WR James Lofton in becoming the franchise's all-time leader in scrimmage yards.
