Chiefs | Full Expansion List

Tue, 22 Jan 2002 22:34:07 -0800

The Kansas City Star reports, in addition to the previously reported WR Derrick Alexander, the Kansas City Chiefs placed WR Larry Parker, DBs Taje Allen and Bracey Walker and DT Nate Hobgood-Chittick on their expansion list. The Texans would do the Chiefs a huge favor if they claimed Alexander. Houston would assume Alexander's 2002 base salary of $3.475 million. Word is if Alexander is not selected in the expansion draft, he will probably be released. "He could be replaced by somebody better," Vermeil said. "He has a way of working that can irritate you, or not working. He's developed bad habits on the practice field."

Tue, 10 Apr 2001 23:34:29 -0700

The Kansas City Star reports the Kansas City Chiefs turned their focus for a speed WR and kick-return specialist to Rams restricted free agent WR/KR Tony Horne on Tuesday. If the Chiefs want to sign him to an offer sheet, they must do so by Monday. If he is signed and the Rams don't match, there is no compensation. In other news, Florida WR John Capel, an Olympic sprinter, is expected to visit with the Chiefs this week. He hasn't played football since the 1999 season. He sat out last season to concentrate on the Olympics. The Chiefs will entertain two other free agents this week, both special team-type players, S Larry Whigham (Patriots) and CB Taje Allen (Rams).

Rams | Free Agent Plans | Green Note

Fri, 02 Mar 2001 00:51:49 -0800

The Post Dispatch reports the St. Louis Rams have limited interest in re-signing any of their five unrestricted free agents, CB Taje Allen, LB Mike Jones, CB Todd Lyght, LB Lorenzo Styles and WR Chris Thomas, at this time. They may look at Allen, Jones, Styles or Thomas later in the free agency period if they are still available at a cheaper rate. As of early Thursday evening, coach Mike Martz said, the Rams had received no calls from the Chiefs regarding a trade for QB Trent Green. Chiefs coach Dick Vermeil spoke with Rams President Jay Zygmunt this week and said if Green is up for trade, the Chiefs "would be interested." Vermeil has never traded a first round pick so it would be a new experience for him.
