DenverBroncos.com reports Denver Broncos wide receivers coach Steve Watson believes WR B.J. Johnson (ankle), who missed the entire 2004 season with an ankle injury, has some catching up to do, but he has seen flashes of talent from the young receiver. "It will take him a little bit to get back into it but he has shown some real promise in our quarterback school and I like what I see," Watson said. "Hopefully he'll continue to get better because he's gotten incrementally better and better each time he's gone out on the field."

"There's a lot of guys and they're working their butts off, and I'm doing my best to try and help them and try to give them opportunity to make the football team," Smith said. "It's a dream for them to get the chance to play on Sundays. I'm going to try and help them fulfill that dream." The group includes second year WRs Charlie Adams, Adrian Madise, Nate Jackson and Atnaf Harris along with rookie WRs Darius Watts, Triandos Luke, Romar Crenshaw and B.J. Johnson.

Denver Broncos rookie WR B.J. Johnson (tibia) has finally begun to practice with the team after sitting out the Broncos' May minicamp due to a broken leg he suffered during his senior season at the University of Texas, reports Andrew Mason of DenverBroncos.com. The injury likely cost Johnson a shot a being drafted, but now the wide receiver beliefs he can compete for a spot on the team's roster. "I'm just now trying to get back in the groove of things, get back into football mode," Johnson said. "But I'm having a lot of fun. I know I can play this game and I know I can play at a high level. I played at a high level for four years at Texas, and I plan to keep doing that."

Natalie England reports for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that WR B.J. Johnson (Texas) took part in limited drills during his school's recent Pro Day. Gil Brandt, of NFL.com, reports Johnson measured in at 5'11 3/4" and 202 lbs. He tried to run, but pulled up before he could finish. He plans to try to run in the first part of April.
