Panthers | Jerricho Cotchery wants to stay

Tue, 09 Feb 2016 12:12:46 -0800

Carolina Panthers impending free-agent WR Jerricho Cotchery wants to play for Carolina next season.

Fantasy Tip: Cotchery had a fairly quiet second season with the Panthers, putting up 485 receiving yards and three touchdowns in 14 games. He'll probably have minimal fantasy value whether he stays in Carolina or plays elsewhere.

Panthers | Jerricho Cotchery ready for Sunday

Wed, 20 Jan 2016 20:05:50 -0800

Carolina Panthers WR Jerricho Cotchery posted three receptions for 22 yards in the win over the Seattle Seahawks, now he'll face the Arizona Cardinals in the NFC Championship Game Sunday, Jan. 24.

Fantasy Tip: Cotchery ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) is a very presence who might exceed salary expectations in FantasyScore. Don't look for a triple-digit yardage game and score, but 50 yards and a handful of catches would make him worth the roster spot.

Carolina Panthers WR Jerricho Cotchery had five catches for a team-high 73 yards in a 33-14 win over the Dallas Cowboys in Week 12.

Fantasy Tip: After doing next to nothing for most of the season, Cotchery has topped 50 yards in three of his last four. He is still a risky option at FantasyScore, but his role appears to be growing.

Carolina Panthers WR Jerricho Cotchery (ankle) practiced in full Thursday, Oct. 15.

Fantasy Tip: Cotchery ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) is a fringe option on FantasyScore against the Seattle Seahawks, but the lack of receiving options around him could make him an option in the weeks to come.

Panthers | Jerricho Cotchery back on the field

Wed, 14 Oct 2015 14:01:02 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Jerricho Cotchery (ankle) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Oct. 14.

Fantasy Tip: Cotchery ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) has a solid chance to play in the Week 6 game against the Seattle Seahawks after missing some games with a high ankle sprain. Cotchery is not the best option for owners this week since he is facing a tough Seahawks defense.

Carolina Panthers WR Jerricho Cotchery (ankle) did not participate in practice Friday, Oct. 2, and has been ruled out for the Week 4 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Fantasy Tip: Cotchery ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) was expected to miss a few weeks because he is dealing with a high ankle sprain but may be ready after the bye week. Greg Olsen ($7,100, 14.2% of cap) is the only reliable Panthers pass catcher for fantasy owners.

Thu, 01 Oct 2015 14:13:42 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Jerricho Cotchery (ankle) did not practice Thursday, Oct. 1.

Fantasy Tip: Cotchery ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) is already expected to be out until after the Panthers' Week 5 bye. Ted Ginn ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) makes for a good sleeper pick while Cotchery is out.

Wed, 30 Sep 2015 13:26:12 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Jerricho Cotchery (ankle) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Sept. 30.

Fantasy Tip: Cotchery ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) is expected to miss the Week 4 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and should be avoided by fantasy owners. Greg Olsen ($7,100, 14.2% of cap) probably is the only Panthers receiver that owners could consider for their lineups.

Panthers | Jerricho Cotchery to miss a few weeks

Mon, 28 Sep 2015 10:07:17 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Jerricho Cotchery (ankle) is making progress in his recovery from an ankle injury but likely will not return to the field until after the Week 5 bye.

Fantasy Tip: Ted Ginn has been targeted most often among the team's receivers and has 188 receiving yards, but none of the other receivers have more than 70 receiving yards. Greg Olsen may be the only pass catcher on the team that fantasy owners should be interested in.

Panthers | Jerricho Cotchery out Sunday

Fri, 25 Sep 2015 10:31:29 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Jerricho Cotchery (ankle) has been ruled out for Week 3 against the New Orleans Saints.

Fantasy Tip: Another weapon Cam Newton won't have. That may not matter against a weak Saints secondary, though, and Ted Ginn Jr. ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) could be a gem as a deep sleeper on FantasyScore. Devin Funchess ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) could finally come through in his rookie year, too.

Panthers | Jerricho Cotchery misses practice

Wed, 23 Sep 2015 15:08:55 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Jerricho Cotchery (ankle) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Sept. 23.

Fantasy Tip: Cotchery ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) suffered a high-ankle sprain in Week 3, so he may not be able to play this week. If Cotchery is out, Corey Brown ($2,000, 4.0%) and Ted Ginn ($2,000, 4.0%) would have increased value, and each of them would be decent value plays on FantasyScore.

Panthers | Jerricho Cotchery has high ankle sprain

Mon, 21 Sep 2015 10:40:13 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Jerricho Cotchery (ankle) suffered a high ankle sprain during the team's Week 2 game. Cotchery was able to return to the game after suffering the injury, so the team is hoping Cotchery will be able to play in Week 3 against the New Orleans Saints.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to monitor the situation to see if Cotchery is able to practice this week. Players usually miss several weeks when they suffer a high ankle sprain, so Cotchery could miss some time.

Panthers | Jerricho Cotchery back on the field

Sun, 20 Sep 2015 10:53:52 -0700

Updating a previous report, Carolina Panthers WR Jerricho Cotchery (ankle) has returned to the field in Week 2 after missing some time because of an ankle injury.

Fantasy Tip: Cotchery ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) should have a role in the passing game each week since the team does not have a No. 1 receiver. Cotchery could be a flex option in deeper leagues against certain opponents.

Sun, 20 Sep 2015 10:41:08 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Jerricho Cotchery (ankle) suffered a right ankle injury in Week 2 and is considered questionable to return.

Fantasy Tip: Cotchery ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) was coming off a solid Week 1 performance where he caught 45 yards and a touchdown but left Week 2 early. Owners should look for an update on his status in the next day or two.

Carolina Panthers WR Jerricho Cotchery (groin) exited a preseason game against the New England Patriots Friday, Aug. 28, with a groin injury and will not return.

Fantasy Tip: Cotchery isn't worth drafting in 2015, but with Kelvin Benjamin out for the year, he is worth keeping an eye on in case rookie Devin Funchess struggles out of the gate.

Panthers | WR depth shaken up in Carolina

Wed, 19 Aug 2015 16:00:56 -0700

Carolina Panthers WRs Corey Brown and Jerricho Cotchery are currently the top two wide receivers on Carolina's depth chart, according to Steve Reed of the Associated Press.

Fantasy Tip: Of course, Devin Funchess should eventually prove himself as the top fantasy option for the Panthers. Brown and Cotchery are worth adding in fantasy leagues, but it will be a risk to start them on a weekly basis.

Panthers | Jerricho Cotchery may be on bubble

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 11:52:43 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Jerricho Cotchery may have to compete for a roster spot during training camp because of the other players the team has at wide receiver.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to monitor the situation during the season to see if Cotchery will make the team. He has posted similar numbers the last two seasons but did see his touchdowns go from 10 in 2013 to one in 2014. Cotchery should be an option in fantasy drafts this season.

Panthers | Jerricho Cotchery expected to stick

Tue, 19 May 2015 06:22:02 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Jerricho Cotchery is expected to remain with the Panthers as their No. 3 or No. 4 wide receiver in 2015, according to ESPN.com's David Newton.

Fantasy Tip: Cotchery's fantasy value is practically nonexistent in traditional formats, especially standard-scoring setups, but he may have a week or two of mild DFS appeal with the right matchup.

Panthers | Jerricho Cotchery a sneaky start?

Thu, 16 Oct 2014 14:48:23 -0700

Carolina Panthers WR Jerricho Cotchery could be a sneaky start this week if WR Kelvin Benjamin (concussion) is unable to play. Even with Benjamin in the lineup last week, Cotchery saw 10 targets in a tie with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Fantasy Tip: The Panthers will likely need to air the ball out frequently on the road against the pass-happy Green Bay Packers. Cotchery would be a nice option for a value play ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) on FantasyScore if Benjamin is out.

Fantasy Tip: The Panthers are in dire straights with their wide receiver position. Cotchery is an ideal fit when he provides depth to a receiving corps, but he shouldn't be expected to shoulder the load. Even if Carolina signs Cotchery, expect them to focus heavily on the position in the draft.
