Ron Musselman, of the Toledo Blade, reports New York Giants QB Josh Harris is working hard to land a roster spot with the Giants. "This is the highest level you can play at and this is where I want to be," Harris said from New Jersey, where he has been working out and studying the team's playbook the last two months. "Until they tell me I can't be there, I'll keep trying." Harris will take part in a Giants' minicamp two weekends from now. "When you're the third or fourth quarterback, you don't get many repetitions," Harris said. "You have to impress people when you get your shot." Harris feels his biggest competition is himself. "I'm competing with myself," said Harris. "I want to play the best football I can and hopefully things will work out for me and my family. It's just a matter of being in the right place at the right time."

Zac Jackson, of ClevelandBrowns.com, reports the Cleveland Browns have three quarterbacks - QBs Doug Johnson, Josh Harris and Charlie Frye - who will be battling for the No. 2-4 positions on the depth chart. Johnson, the veteran, remains the favorite to backup QB Trent Dilfer, with Harris and the rookie Frye behind Johnson. But the coaching staff hasn't ruled out shuffling the depth chart depending on how each player performs during training camp and the preseason. "You always have to be ready to go," Frye said. "You have to be mentally into every single rep at practice. Staying into it is a big part of a being a backup quarterback in this league."

Jeff Walcoff, of ClevelandBrowns.com, reports Cleveland Browns QB Josh Harris says he wasn't concerned when the team drafted QB Charlie Frye or signed QB Doug Johnson during the offseason because he was already prepared to battle for the backup quarterback job during training camp. "I don't try to think about what the front office guys are going to do," Harris said. "I just go out there and try to do my best everyday and take care of myself … You always have to be ready and that's how you're going to keep up with this game. If you're not ready, you're not going to spend too much time in this locker room or anybody else's locker room."

Patrick McManamon, of the Akron Beacon Journal, reports the signing of QB Doug Johnson by the Cleveland Browns does not necessarily mean trouble for rookie QB Charlie Frye. "I think Charlie has made good progress since the rookie minicamp," head coach Romeo Crennel said last week of Frye's progress. "He's become more comfortable with the system and he knows and understands the terminology better. He understands where the routes are being run and is picking up the coverages that he has been seeing in this camp." Though it's possible the Browns could carry four quarterbacks, Frye, QB Josh Harris and Johnson more than likely will be competing for the two spots on the roster behind starting QB Trent Dilfer.
