Jim Thomas, writing for the Sporting News, reports St. Louis Rams QB Ryan Fitzpatrick seems to have the edge so far, but QB Jeff Smoker still has a chance to emerge from training camp as the No. 3 quarterback. Smoker has a stronger arm, but Fitzpatrick is more accurate and is better on the move. Nick Wagoner, of StLouisRams.com, reports St. Louis Rams QB Gus Frerotte has made himself readily available to QBs Marc Bulger, Jeff Smoker and Ryan Fitzpatrick to answer any questions about head coach Scott Linehan's offensive ideas. He has also helped other offensive players with learning Linehan's offense. Linehan said, "I'm sure he feels like he is one of the assistant coaches out there. He knows what I am going to want. He knows what I am going to watch, he knows what I am going to say about something. He is wearing another hat, but his role is to be our backup quarterback. He started nearly 80 or 90 games in the NFL now, so we know what he can do, and that if something ever happens to Marc (Bulger) he could step in."

Jim Thomas, of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, reports St. Louis Rams QBs Ryan Fitzpatrick and Jeff Smoker will battle for the No. 3 quarterback spot in training camp. "I think Ryan's got the upper hand on that at this point," head coach Scott Linehan said. "But we wanted to keep Jeff around. We feel he's got a chance to develop, too. They'll be in position now to battle for that."
