Bart Hubbuch, of the Florida Times-Union, reports WRs Micah Ross, Larry Shannon and Kendall Newson have been battling for the Jacksonville Jaguars No. 4 receiver position. Another player possibly in the mix is WR Damon Gibson, who had an excellent showing at minicamp last weekend by catching everything thrown his direction. The Miami Herald reports despite adding WR James McKnight via free agency, the Miami Dolphins will be looking to add another WR via the NFL Draft, possibly as early as the first round. The Dolphins are fortunate in that regard as the draft is deep in WRs. Coach Dave Wannstedt blamed some of the need for WRs on the failures of Yatil Green and Larry Shannon to pan out for the team. "Jimmy Johnson knew what he was doing, and if those two guys are playing, we wouldn't be having this discussion," said Wannstedt. AS far as the draft goes, the Dolphins are likely to have a chance at picking Miami's Reggie Wayne, Oregon State's Chad Johnson, UCLA's Freddie Mitchell, Kansas State's Quincy Morgan and Wisconsin's Chris Chambers.

The Denver Post reports the Denver Broncos will host a visit with free agent WR Willie Jackson (Saints) later today. He will be the fourth free agent WR to visit Denver within the past week and probably the last. The team expects to sign a WR later this week and have informed the player's agents of that. Their four free agent WR choices are Jackson, Eddie Kennison (Chicago), Fabien Bownes (Seattle) and Larry Shannon (Oakland). The Broncos also are expected to intensify efforts to sign Tennessee free agent CB Denard Walker. As previously reported, OT Todd Steussie will be in town sometime this week.
