NFL | Chris Cooley might delay comeback

Mon, 27 Jul 2015 19:32:19 -0700

Free-agent TE Chris Cooley (Redskins) is still considering a comeback, although he said Monday, July 27, in a radio interview that he does not anticipate a team signing him before the start of training camp. In addition, he is likely to join a contending team. "It would probably have to be a team that realisitically has a chance of winning this year. Teams that don't have a chance of winning don't sign 33-year-old tight ends," Cooley said.

Fantasy Tip: Cooley continues to work out in hopes of making a comeback, and if he does play in a game it would be his first since the 2012 NFL season. Fantasy owners obviously need to forget his name like they have for the past two seasons and only worry about him off the waiver wire should his comeback turn out to be surprisingly successful.

Redskins | Chris Cooley accepts limited role

Wed, 07 Nov 2012 07:08:08 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Chris Cooley has played just 29 snaps over his first two weeks back with the team as TE Logan Paulsen has been receiving the majority of playing time. Cooley said he does not have an issue with the playing time. "Honestly, I didn't know what to expect. I'm happy to be a part of whatever I can do," Cooley said. "Hopefully, for me, it grows throughout the season. But it's a good bunch of guys to be around and a good locker room, and I'm happy to do whatever I can, and if that's just being here and helping with the little details, then I'm happy to do that." Offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan said that game matchups would determine whether or not Cooley saw a spike in playing time down the road.
