Steelers | Ben Roethlisberger to get big contract?

Mon, 16 Feb 2015 12:37:22 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger could earn around $20 million per year once his new contract is finalized, according to former NFL general manager Mark Dominik. This would make Roethlisberger one of the top-five highest paid quarterbacks in the NFL.

Fantasy Tip: Roethlisberger is coming off a career year, so it shouldn't be a huge surprise if/when he receives a big, new contract. With a young and talented supporting cast including players like Antonio Brown, Le'Veon Bell and Markus Wheaton, Roethlisberger should be considered a QB1 heading into 2015.

Steelers | Ben Roethlisberger could have surgery

Tue, 06 Jan 2015 10:27:32 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger (knee) could have minor offseason surgery on his knee to get it cleaned up, according to head coach Mike Tomlin. Roethlisberger said he didn't suffer a concussion in the team's wild-card playoff loss to the Baltimore Ravens, and his hand is also fine.

Fantasy Tip: If Roethlisberger has surgery on his knee, it's not expected to impact his readiness for the start of the 2015 season. With plenty of offensive weapons around him again next year, we believe Big Ben should be worthy of a QB1 selection in your fantasy football drafts.

Steelers | Ben Roethlisberger wants new deal

Tue, 06 Jan 2015 09:46:39 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger is confident that he and the team will agree on a new contract after he was tied for the NFL lead with 4,952 passing yards this season. Roethlisberger is heading into the final year of his eight-year, $102 million deal, and the Steelers hope to work something out to keep him in Pittsburgh for the rest of his career. President Art Rooney II wants Roethlisberger to retire with the team. Roethlisberger will make $11.6 million next year with a cap hit of $18.395 million, according to ESPN Stats & Information.

Fantasy Tip: Big Ben put up an amazing season, including two separate games with six touchdowns each. The emergence of Antonio Brown and the presence of a pass-catching back out of the backfield in Le'Veon Bell make Roethlisberger a force to be reckoned with. He should be considered a QB1 again heading into next season.

"Yeah, just like a little whiplash on my neck, I was just kinda laying down there and wanted to make sure I could feel everything. It was more just whiplash on my neck. Right now it feels OK, I'll probably be sore tomorrow," Roethlisberger said after the game.
