Steelers | Ben Roethlisberger's shoulder 100%

Fri, 29 Jul 2016 19:59:56 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger (shoulder) said Friday, July 29, an MRI on his right shoulder showed his injury is fully healed. "(The doctors) were really happy, because they felt like the muscle around it had built up and it looked really good," Roethlisberger said.

Fantasy Tip: Even with the suspensions looming for Pittsburgh's offense, Roethlisberger should still be a QB1 in 2016.

Steelers | Ben Roethlisberger likes two-point tries

Tue, 14 Jun 2016 11:16:49 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger said he would like to attempt two-point conversions after every touchdown this season. He and head coach Mike Tomlin have discussed the possibility.

Fantasy Tip: It's an intriguing idea with the point-after-attempt further back. Doing so would give a little more value to guys like Antonio Brown, Le'Veon Bell, Markus Wheaton and Ladarius Green, not to mention Big Ben. Roethlisberger, Brown and Bell are all top options at their respective positions in any fantasy format, with or without a two-point attempt after every score. Additionally, Shaun Suisham or Chris Boswell could also see a decrease in production with such an effort. Neither should be viewed as a PK1 anyway.

Steelers | Ben Roethlisberger has high expectations

Tue, 24 May 2016 22:16:40 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger said the offense will be looking to average 30 points per game in 2016 even though WR Martavis Bryant has been suspended for the entire season. "It is still our goal," Roethlisberger said. "We were close last year, but we didn't get there." The Steelers averaged 26.4 points per game in 2015 but the average increased to 28.9 points when Roethlisberger started or played at least a half.

Fantasy Tip: Roethlisberger will have plenty of weapons to work with this upcoming season even with Bryant out and should be a starting option in all leagues. Antonio Brown and Le'Veon Bell likely will be selected in one of the first two rounds of drafts, while Ladarius Green and Markus Wheaton should be owned in most leagues.

Steelers | Ben Roethlisberger shedding weight

Tue, 05 Apr 2016 09:22:22 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger has lost at least 15 pounds this offseason with a cardio regimen in an attempt to avoid joint pain and injuries.

Fantasy Tip: Big Ben is an option in that upper-middle tier after the elite QBs are taken in fantasy.

Steelers | Big Ben has several more prime years

Mon, 28 Mar 2016 22:13:51 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger has several more prime years, according to general manager Kevin Colbert. Roethlisberger averaged 330 passing yards per game in 12 games last year. "Ben's a franchise quarterback," Colbert said. "We still have, you know, we think three to four more good years in his prime. We're excited to see what he can do in that time period and what we can do to help him be successful."

Fantasy Tip: Roethlisberger turned 34 this month and still has a very good arm. He has been susceptible to injury and isn't nearly as elusive in the pocket as he used to be. However, he has arguably the best receiver in the game in Antonio Brown, a stud running back in Le'Veon Bell (when healthy) and an exciting option in Ladarius Green at tight end. He remains entrenched in the middle of the QB1 window.

Steelers | Ben Roethlisberger's stock takes hit

Sat, 12 Mar 2016 11:16:55 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger is expected to have one less target to throw to in 2016 with WR Martavis Bryant facing a year-long suspension for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy.

Fantasy Tip: Roethlisberger still has some quality weapons at his disposal, including Antonio Brown, Le'Veon Bell, Markus Wheaton, Ladarius Green and Sammie Coates. Wheaton and Coates won't be able to fully make up for Bryant's size, athleticism and speed, though. Put Brown at the top of your fantasy wide receiver rankings, if he's not already. Bell is easily a top RB1, while Wheaton can now be part of the WR3 conversation in PPR leagues. Again, Green is a borderline tight end starter.

Steelers | Ben Roethlisberger has years left

Fri, 29 Jan 2016 14:45:39 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger has not shown any decline in his play and is expected to play several more seasons, according to team president Art Rooney II. Rooney said the team is not looking to start grooming their next starting quarterback at this point.

Fantasy Tip: Roethlisberger dealt with multiple injuries this season but still posted solid numbers for fantasy owners. He should have most of his weapons back next season and will be a starting quarterback in most fantasy leagues.

Steelers | Ben Roethlisberger happy with play

Fri, 22 Jan 2016 17:49:49 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger said he feels like he is playing some of his best football and will work on keeping his arm strong this offseason. Roethlisberger has completed 67.1% and 68.0% of his passes over the last two seasons, which are the best two seasons of his career.

Fantasy Tip: Roethlisberger played very well when he was healthy this season and threw for nearly 4,000 yards even though he missed four games. He should have all of his main weapons back next season and will be a starting quarterback in most leagues.

Steelers | Big Ben won't need surgery

Tue, 19 Jan 2016 11:15:20 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger (shoulder) said he will not need surgery on his right shoulder in the offseason. He will take some time off in the next few weeks to let the injury heal. "From what I've been told by Doc (James) Bradley, no surgery," Roethlisberger said. "The ligaments will scar up and heal on their own. The only thing he could foresee possibly down the road is cleaning out the arthritis and scars. I don't foresee any surgeries anytime soon." He also said he took a painkilling shot Friday, Jan. 15, and probably wouldn't have gotten through the divisional round without it.

Fantasy Tip: Roethlisberger still managed to throw for over 300 yards against the top-rated pass defense in the Denver Broncos, and he did it two times this year. He'll be fully healed in time for next year, and with this receiver corps, he's an elite QB1 for fantasy owners.

Steelers | No scores for Ben Roethlisberger

Sun, 17 Jan 2016 17:20:20 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger completed 24 of 37 passes for 339 yards in a 23-16 loss to the Denver Broncos in the divisional round of the playoffs Sunday, Jan. 17.

Fantasy Tip: Despite an injured shoulder, Roethlisberger was able to move the ball with ease against a tough Denver secondary, but he was unable to finish off drives with touchdowns. He will have plenty of weapons at his disposal next year, and he could finish as a top-five fantasy option at his position.
