Tue, 11 Jun 2013 15:44:18 -0700 Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger (knee) said the recovery from surgery to repair a torn right knee meniscus is going well and that he could play this weekend if he had to. "It feels great," Roethlisberger said. "I saw Doc [James] Bradley this morning. He was pleasantly surprised with the range of motion and where we're at with the swelling. It feels great. I've been off crutches for a couple days now and moving around pretty good. I think I could play Sunday if I had to. According to Doc, the surgery went really well, my knee is in great shape. They took care of the little problem. It had been bothering me a little bit last year and we just decided now is the time to take care of it." Fantasy Tip: Roethlisberger lacks weapons in the passing game and should be viewed as a rather weak QB2 in 2013.
Wed, 05 Jun 2013 11:11:39 -0700 Updating a previous report, Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger (knee) could have played with the injured meniscus in his right knee, but doctors recommended he underwent the surgery.
Wed, 05 Jun 2013 09:39:58 -0700 Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger (knee) had minor surgery on his right knee Wednesday, June 5, and is expected to be healthy for the start of training camp. Fantasy Tip: There's little reason initially to think that this will compromise his ability to play, but Big Ben has dealt with a few nagging injuries in his recent past. Keep an eye on this as we learn more details and inch closer to Week 1.
Wed, 29 May 2013 12:06:34 -0700 Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger met with offensive coordinator Todd Haley several times this offseason and had a lot of input into what worked and what did not last season. Wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders said Haley is giving Roethlisberger more control at the line of scrimmage in terms of check downs and hot reads. Fantasy Tip: Roethlisberger was playing well before his injury last season but did not look completely comfortable with Haley's offense. He lost Mike Wallace this offseason, and Heath Miller's (knee) availability for Week 1 is uncertain, which hurts his value. He should be seen as a weak No. 2 quarterback entering drafts.
Wed, 22 May 2013 11:30:38 -0700 Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger has voiced his happiness over the direction of the team's new offense this offseason. "There've been some changes this offseason in some of the offensive philosophies, playbook and some things that I think are good," Roethlisberger said. "It's some compromise from all the different position coaches, the running back coaches, the line and quarterback coaches. I think we've taken a little bit of everything and made it a lot better." Fantasy Tip: It's unclear what changes were made to the offense by Todd Haley and the rest of the coaching staff, but things definitely needed to be altered after the offense had no consistency last year. Emmanuel Sanders must pick up some slack now that Mike Wallace is out of the picture, and the running attack must be more productive, as well. The new scheme may favor more deep passes after Big Ben complained of too many dink-and-dunk routes last season.
Tue, 07 May 2013 08:47:12 -0700 Pittsburgh Steelers QB Landry Jones said his main goal is to simply gain an understanding of the team's offense and not one day replace QB Ben Roethlisberger as the team's starting quarterback. "I have no idea," Jones said. "You might want to talk to the coaches or Mr. Rooney on that one, what they want to do. I'm just here to learn football. They give me an opportunity to come play." General manager Kevin Colbert and head coach Mike Tomlin insist the team did not draft Jones as the quarterback of the future but to provide a youth movement at the position.
Tue, 16 Apr 2013 06:29:29 -0700 Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger is taking part in voluntary offseason workouts that began Monday, April 15.
Sat, 13 Apr 2013 16:09:44 -0700 Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger has been pushing for the team to match the offer restricted free-agent WR Emmanuel Sanders signed with the New England Patriots. The Steelers are not worried about the $2.5 million Sanders would make, but could lose him next offseason.
Wed, 06 Mar 2013 11:16:55 -0800 Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger said he is feeling great after dealing with a sprained right shoulder and dislocated rib during the season. "I feel great. I think I ended the season healthier than I have in a long time. I know that sounds crazy because of my ribs and chest, but I played three or four games at the end of the season and I was actually getting healthy as the season was ending," Roethlisberger said.
Fri, 01 Mar 2013 05:47:01 -0800 Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger dismissed any fracture in the locker room. "I want it to be known there is no locker-room issue, there is no leadership issue," Roethlisberger said. "Even if guys say it out of frustration, they're trying to find something to say. I think it's important to know we all have each other's back."
