It marked the first time facing live batters since being hit in the head with a batted ball Sunday, June 26. "There were a couple of balls hit up the middle, but I didn't fall on the ground or act like somebody tried to shoot me," Denney said. "As soon as I face a hitter again, I should be OK."

Sun, 26 Jun 2005 18:55:35 -0700 The Associated Press reports Cleveland Indians minor league P Kyle Denney (head) was hospitalized Sunday, June 26, after being hit in the head by a line drive during a Triple-A game earlier in the day. The ball struck him above his right ear. After the play, Denney remained on the field for about 10 minutes receiving medical attention before being carried off on a stretcher. He'll likely be kept overnight at the Buffalo-area hospital for observation. According to trainer Todd Tomczyk, Denney received a concussion but never lost consciousness. There is a possibility he could be out of action for four to six weeks.

Thu, 30 Sep 2004 09:17:37 -0700 The Associated Press reports Cleveland Indians SP Kyle Denney was shot in the leg on the team bus while traveling to the airport in Kansas City, Mo., after their game with the Royals. Team trainers were able to extract the bullet from Denney's calf, who was expected to spend the night in the hospital but was not seriously hurt, club spokesman Bart Swain said. Swain said the shot was fired into the side of one of the Indians' two buses while it was on a ramp between Interstate 435 and I-70, grazing Indians OF Ryan Ludwick. Police spokesman Darin Snapp said there were no suspects and it wasn't known if the team's bus was the intended target.
