Yankees | Derek Jeter passes Lou Brock on hit list

With five hits on Wednesday, Aug. 3, against the Chicago White Sox, New York Yankees SS Derek Jeter now has 3,027 career hits. He passed St. Louis Cardinals legend Lou Brock into 23rd on the all-time hit list. Rod Carew is next at 3,053.

Rays | B.J. Upton getting hitting tips from Rod Carew

Tampa Bay Rays OF B.J. Upton spent a couple days this winter getting batting tips from Hall of Famer Rod Carew, according to The Tampa Tribune's Roger Mooney. "He's got a great track record," Upton said. "He had some good things to say. He said he'd been watching me for a while and, so to speak, threw his two cents in."

Angels | Carew named Hometown Hero

Greg Wagner, of, reports the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim have named IF Rod Carew as their Hometown Hero. Carew played seven seasons for the Angels, hitting .314, with a .393 on-base percentage. Carew also picked up his 3,000th hit with the franchise. He finished his career with 3,053 hits, good for 21st on the All-time list.

Twins | Carew To Return As Instructor

The St. Paul Pioneer Press' Charley Walters reports former Minnesota Twins and Anaheim Angels star Rod Carew has accepted an invitation from Twins general manager Terry Ryan and manager Ron Gardenhire to return to the field in uniform as a member of the club's instructional staff for a week during spring training in Fort Myers, Fla.

The Associated Press reports Minnesota Twins SS Cristian Guzman's triple Wednesday night was his 58th career three-bagger, passing Kirby Puckett for second in Twins history. Rod Carew hit 90 triples for Minnesota.

Twins | Carew Returns To Minnesota, Accepts Executive Position

The Associated Press reports the Minnesota Twins signed Hall of Famer Rod Carew to an executive staff position. Carew will assist in several facets of the front office, including corporate partnerships, marketing, community affairs and broadcasting. Minnesota already has former greats Harmon Killebrew, Tony Oliva and Kent Hrbek working for the club in similar capacities.
