Bart Hubbuch, of the Florida Times-Union reports Jacksonville Jaguars RB Elvis Joseph (hamstring), considered the early favorite to replace former Jaguars RB Stacey Mack as RB Fred Taylor's backup, has missed more than two weeks with a hamstring injury that shows little sign of improvement. The injury also isn't doing much for Joseph's chances of making the final roster, Jaguars head coach Jack Del Rio said Monday, Aug. 18. Asked if Joseph could be cut because of his inactivity, Del Rio said: "Yes, and we'll just have to address that if and when he ever gets back."

Jaguars.com reports although the team missed the presence of RB Fred Taylor (groin) for almost the entire season, it did allow them to develop depth at the position with backup RBs Stacey Mack and rookie Elvis Joseph. "I think we'll have the best backfield in the league with the three of us," Taylor said. Mack is a restricted free agent at the end of the season. The Jaguars are expected to extend a "low tender" offer of $560,000 to Mack. He was undrafted when he entered the league, so the team would receive no compensation if they decided not to match another team's offer to Mack. "They got the first rights to me. I've love to stay," Mack said of his contract situation.

Coach Tom Coughlin admits he is looking at any and all running back combinations after Stacey Mack, Elvis Joseph and Moreau combined for 26 yards rushing against Baltimore. The three-headed RB monster may continue for a while as RB Fred Taylor (groin) appears no closer to returning to the lineup.

The Times-Union reports although Stacey Mack is expected to start at running back for the Jacksonville Jaguars during Fred Taylor's absence, coach Tom Coughlin said RB Frank Moreau and rookie free agent RB Elvis Joseph might help fill the void at running back as well. "All three of those guys can be utilized," Coughlin said. Coughlin was upbeat in evaluating Mack's performance from Sunday. Jaguars.com reports S Craig Miller was injured during practice after a collision with RB Elvis Joseph. Miller appeared to suffer a neck injury, but a full diagnosis wasn’t immediately available. Head coach Tom Coughlin said Miller was experiencing some pain down his back, but not as much in his arms. Miller was taken to Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville.
