Athletics | Jed Lowrie expects to go on DL

Thu, 14 Aug 2014 09:10:02 -0700

Oakland Athletics SS Jed Lowrie (finger) said he expects to be placed on the 15-day disabled list, because he is not helping the team. Lowrie said he has tried to take part in baseball activities, but the finger is affecting his play.

Fantasy Tip: Alberto Callaspo and Eric Sogard could see time at shortstop if Lowrie is placed on the disabled list. Neither player has much value outside of AL-only leagues.

Athletics | Alberto Callaspo to get more playing time

Sun, 03 Aug 2014 11:46:44 -0700

Oakland Athletics INF Alberto Callaspo is expected to see more action at second base as a result of 2B Nick Punto (hamstring) landing on the disabled list.

Fantasy Tip: Callaspo is worthy of consideration in AL-only and deep mixed leagues. Manager Bob Melvin said it is unlikely that Punto will be able to return to action as soon as he is eligible to be activated.

Athletics | Brandon Moss' MRI clean

Sun, 06 Jul 2014 19:03:46 -0700

The MRI done on Oakland Athletics 1B Brandon Moss (ankle) did not show any structural damage in his injured ankle.

Fantasy Tip: It is not known how long Moss will be out of the lineup but this is certainly good news for him. Nate Freiman started at first base Sunday and could be an AL-only option if he continues to get starts at the positions. Alberto Callaspo and Daric Barton could also be options but probably would not have a lot of value in leagues other than AL-only.
