Marlins | J.T. Realmuto sitting Friday

Fri, 29 Apr 2016 14:29:10 -0700

Miami Marlins C J.T. Realmuto is not in the starting lineup Friday, April 29. C Jeff Mathis is doing the catching and is hitting eighth against Milwaukee Brewers SP Zach Davies.

Fantasy Tip: Mathis has a .194/.254/.306 slash line in 12 years in the big leagues and is a desperation daily pick as salary cap relief Friday night. Look elsewhere.

Marlins | Marcell Ozuna back up to No. 2

Sat, 23 Apr 2016 14:54:29 -0700

Miami Marlins OF Marcell Ozuna is hitting second Saturday, April 23, with C J.T. Realmuto out of the lineup. C Jeff Mathis is hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Ozuna is hitting just .204 and .167 over the last seven days. Jake Peavy has been awful in his first few starts this season so Ozuna might be ripe for the picking in DFS tonight. Mathis isn't worth much consideration.

Fantasy Tip: Mathis shouldn't really ever be on your fantasy radar, especially in daily formats when he's facing off against an elite pitcher like Scherzer.

Marlins | J.T. Realmuto, Martin Prado out

Tue, 12 Apr 2016 11:54:28 -0700

Miami Marlins C J.T. Realmuto and 3B Martin Prado are not in the starting lineup Tuesday, April 12. OF Derek Dietrich is starting at the hot corner and hitting sixth, while C Jeff Mathis is behind the plate and is batting eighth against New York Mets SP Noah Syndergaard.

Fantasy Tip: Syndergaard was downright dominant in his first start against the reigning World Series champions in the Royals, so neither Dietrich nor Mathis are attractive at all for daily formats.

Marlins | Jeff Mathis catching Game 1

Sat, 03 Oct 2015 11:16:09 -0700

Miami Marlins C Jeff Mathis will bat seventh against SP Aaron Harang in the first game of a doubleheader against the Philadelphia Phillies Saturday, Oct. 3.

Fantasy Tip: The defensive-minded Mathis ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) has never been a great fantasy baseball option, as his .159 average this year and .194 career average will attest. Avoid using him in FantasyScore this afternoon.

Marlins | J.T. Realmuto sitting vs. Braves

Fri, 25 Sep 2015 12:56:03 -0700

Miami Marlins C J.T. Realmuto is not in the starting lineup Friday, Sept. 25. C Jeff Mathis is starting behind the plate and batting seventh against Atlanta Braves SP Ryan Weber Friday.

Fantasy Tip: FantasyScore players will want to avoid Mathis ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) Friday, as he sports a confidence-shattering .143/.194/.214 slash line this season. Realmuto ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) has put together a solid second half with a .267/.299/.438 line and checks out as a low-end catcher option in NL-only, cavernous mixed and two-catch formats.

Marlins | J.T. Realmuto sitting vs. Washington

Thu, 17 Sep 2015 13:47:07 -0700

Miami Marlins C J.T. Realmuto is not in the starting lineup Thursday, Sept. 17. C Jeff Mathis is starting behind the plate and batting eighth against Washington Nationals SP Tanner Roark Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Realmuto ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) has emerged as a solid No. 2 option in two-catcher formats or low-end starter in NL-only and cavernous mixed leagues. He owns a .742 OPS in the second half with 21 runs, six home runs and 21 RBI over 48 games. Mathis ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) owns a career .194/.253/.303 slash line, so he cannot be started with confidence in any fantasy format Thursday, especially at FantasyScore.

Miami Marlins C J.T. Realmuto is not in the lineup against New York Mets SP Steven Matz Sunday, Sept. 6. C Jeff Mathis will start at catcher and is batting eighth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Realmuto ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) probably will be back in the lineup in the next game or two. Mathis ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is not a great option for fantasy owners and probably should be avoided.

Marlins | J.T. Realmuto sitting Wednesday

Wed, 02 Sep 2015 09:03:33 -0700

Miami Marlins C J.T. Realmuto is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, Sept. 2. C Jeff Mathis is behind the plate and is hitting eighth against Atlanta Braves SP Williams Perez.

Fantasy Tip: The matchup is a tasty one, but Mathis ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) remains an unattractive FantasyScore option. He's batting only .114 (8-for-70) with no home runs on the season.
