Marlins | Jeff Mathis catching Game 1

Sat, 03 Oct 2015 11:16:09 -0700

Miami Marlins C Jeff Mathis will bat seventh against SP Aaron Harang in the first game of a doubleheader against the Philadelphia Phillies Saturday, Oct. 3.

Fantasy Tip: The defensive-minded Mathis ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) has never been a great fantasy baseball option, as his .159 average this year and .194 career average will attest. Avoid using him in FantasyScore this afternoon.

Marlins | J.T. Realmuto sitting vs. Braves

Fri, 25 Sep 2015 12:56:03 -0700

Miami Marlins C J.T. Realmuto is not in the starting lineup Friday, Sept. 25. C Jeff Mathis is starting behind the plate and batting seventh against Atlanta Braves SP Ryan Weber Friday.

Fantasy Tip: FantasyScore players will want to avoid Mathis ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) Friday, as he sports a confidence-shattering .143/.194/.214 slash line this season. Realmuto ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) has put together a solid second half with a .267/.299/.438 line and checks out as a low-end catcher option in NL-only, cavernous mixed and two-catch formats.

Marlins | J.T. Realmuto sitting vs. Washington

Thu, 17 Sep 2015 13:47:07 -0700

Miami Marlins C J.T. Realmuto is not in the starting lineup Thursday, Sept. 17. C Jeff Mathis is starting behind the plate and batting eighth against Washington Nationals SP Tanner Roark Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Realmuto ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) has emerged as a solid No. 2 option in two-catcher formats or low-end starter in NL-only and cavernous mixed leagues. He owns a .742 OPS in the second half with 21 runs, six home runs and 21 RBI over 48 games. Mathis ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) owns a career .194/.253/.303 slash line, so he cannot be started with confidence in any fantasy format Thursday, especially at FantasyScore.

Marlins | J.T. Realmuto out again

Thu, 06 Aug 2015 12:24:35 -0700

Miami Marlins C J.T. Realmuto is out of the starting lineup for the second straight day Thursday, Aug. 6. C Jeff Mathis will start again and is hitting eighth against Atlanta Braves SP Matt Wisler.

Fantasy Tip: Mathis ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) has only 6 hits in 53 at-bats this year (.113 average) and is a very poor FantasyScore option tonight. You can find much better catchers to pick from.
