Arizona Cardinals RB Beanie Wells' franchise-record 228-yard rushing performance against the St. Louis Rams in Week 12 does not exactly strike fear in the heart of Dallas Cowboys DL Marcus Spears. The Cowboys will square off with Wells and the Cardinals in Week 13. "I heard he ran the ball well," Spears said, "but I watched DeMarco (Murray) run for 250-something on that same defense."

Dallas Cowboys DL Marcus Spears said Monday, May 24, he intends to fight to hold onto his starting job at defensive end, according to David Moore, of The Dallas Morning News. When the Cowboys offered higher tender offers to backup DL Jason Hatcher and DL Stephen Bowen this offseason, it was a signal that Spears will be challenged. "Maybe so," Spears said. "But you know, all of that stuff is to be determined. I'm going to go into camp and fight hard and try to keep my starting job. Hatcher is going to try to be the starter, and Bowen is going to try to do the same thing. If they want Hatch or Bowen to start, they'll start. If they want me to start, I'll start. But I'm not caught up in that. If I'm starting or not starting, I've got to make the most of my time out there."

Dallas Cowboys DL Marcus Spears believed he was going to be traded during the NFL Draft and is surprised he is still part of the team, reports Charean Williams, of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Spears, however, expects to be traded before the start of the 2010 season. "I want to know where I'm going to be," Spears said. "You have that sense of things. Obviously, I would love to be here long term, but if that's not the case and I have to play here one year, I'm not bitter at all. Still around a bunch of great guys." The Cowboys gave Spears a $1.226 million tender, while paying backup DL Stephen Bowen and DL Jason Hatcher more money than Spears.
