Denver Broncos head coach Mike Shanahan has announced the team has signed free agent P/PK Hayden Epstein to a contract. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The team immediately allocated Epstein to NFL Europe for next season.

Bill Williamson, of the Pioneer Press, reports the Minnesota Vikings have been monitoring the progress of injured kicker Hayden Epstein (knee) and have an interest in re-signing him. The Vikings reached an injury settlement with the kicker in August. Epstein is eligible to re-sign with the team in November.

Bill Williamson, of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, Minnesota Vikings K Hayden Epstein missed a 28-yard field-goal attempt at the end of opening drive of the Friday, Aug. 22 pre-season game against the Oakland Raiders. The miss could seriously hurt Epstein's chances of winning the place-kicking job over Vikings Ks Aaron Elling and Todd France.

Updating previous reports, Sean Jensen of the Pioneer Press reports Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Tice said PK Aaron Elling holds the advantage over PKs Hayden Epstein and Todd France. "Elling is the best at both (kickoffs and field goals) right now, and certainly that is the direction we'd lean," Tice said.
