San Diego Chargers impending free-agent DL Tommie Harris' wife, Ashley Harris, died Sunday, Feb. 12, after suffering a stroke or brain aneurysm two days earlier. Harris was 29. KFFL extends our condolences to her family and friends.

Chargers | Tommie Harris to play in nickel defense

San Diego Chargers DL Tommie Harris will initially see time in the team's nickel defensive package. "He can go in and line up over a guard in our nickel package," head coach Norv Turner said. "That is exactly what he did his entire career in the third down package. He can be a very frequent pass rusher. We don't have to rush him into the 3-4."

Indianapolis Colts DL Jamaal Anderson (groin), DL Tommie Harris (hamstring) and LB Ernie Sims (appendectomy) were able to return for the preseason game Friday, Aug. 26, against the Green Bay Packers. Sims was the defensive star, posting three solo stops and five assists.
