Washington Nationals RP Tyler Walker (shoulder) is likely to need surgery on his sore right shoulder, according to The Washington Post's Gene Wang. Walker will visit with Dr. James Andrews Thursday, July 29, to receive confirmation for surgery. Walker's pain is so severe that he has trouble drinking a glass of water and even sleeping. He is expected to need roughly six to eight months of recovery time, which means he could be ready by Spring Training next year.

Washington Nationals RP Tyler Walker (shoulder) threw all fastballs and changeups in a 35-pitch bullpen session Sunday, July 11, the Washington Post's Adam Kilgore reports. He'll throw another bullpen session Wednesday, July 14. While the Nationals begin the second half of their season, Walker will pitch with Class A Potomac at least twice. He'll also pitch for Class AA Harrisburg and Class AAA Syracuse in Norfolk before returning, likely sometime in late July.
